Join our Trademark & Brand protection practice with thought leaders in the field, and leverage your expertise to help develop and maintain strong brands for our clients. Associates will work on matters for some of the world’s best-known brands, including Fortune 500 companies, across a range of industries including entertainment, technology, life sciences, and consumer products. This position will involve all aspects of trademark counseling, prosecution, and enforcement, along with assisting with anti-counterfeiting campaigns, and counseling clients on marketing & advertising. Associates will have an opportunity to meet with clients and be part of client teams.
How will you make an impact?
- Conduct trademark clearance searches and provide comprehensive availability opinions
- Prepare and prosecute trademark applications with the USPTO
- Manage US and international trademark portfolios and monitor deadlines
- Handle trademark oppositions and cancellations
- Assist with trademark enforcement matters, including cease and desist letters and infringement analysis
- Draft and negotiate trademark-related agreements, such as settlement agreements, licenses, and assignments
- Conduct legal research and analysis on trademark law and related issues
What will you bring to the role?
- JD and actively licensed as an attorney in a U.S. jurisdiction. Must be eligible to waive into the D.C. Bar or be willing and eligible to sit for the D.C. bar exam.
- The ability to communicate legal concepts clearly and concisely
- Stellar academic credentials
- Strong research, writing, and communication skills
- One or more years of trademark experience – clearance, prosecution, and/or enforcement
The firm prefers to hire associates in the Washington, DC area or who are interested in relocating to the area for a hybrid work arrangement. However, we can be flexible for a remote position on a case-by-case basis.
