What do we need?
We are seeking a Marketing & Communications Coordinator who will support the firm’s marketing and business development strategies to advance the overall business growth of the firm and strengthen the firm’s brand message. This role will contribute to the success of the Marketing Department in providing comprehensive marketing and communications support for the firm's attorneys and professional staff. The Marketing and Communications Coordinator should be local to the DC metro area or willing to relocate. This is a hybrid role that requires regular in-office presence.
How will you make an impact?
- Coordinating the firm’s public relations program with the Senior Marketing Manager, including: drafting press releases promoting firm and attorney rankings, awards, and other notable achievements; engaging with external PR agency, including participating in weekly team calls; tracking media placements and coordinating follow-up tasks – obtaining reprints, posting to the website, notifying related attorneys, etc.; and reviewing press releases and rankings submissions drafted by the agency.
- Supporting the promotion and execution of thought leadership content, website content, client alerts, social media, practice and industry collateral, and more (e.g., podcasts, articles, special reports).
- Managing the professional biographies of the firm’s attorneys and senior professional staff (including new hires), including assisting with content development and editing/updating existing bios and related profiles.
- Coordinating all internal communications and promotion of internal firm-wide initiatives, including the firm’s Wellness Center, diversity & inclusion, and pro bono groups, along with other projects as needed.
- Supporting awards and recognitions submission process with research, document formatting, submission tracking (due dates, publication dates, matter tracking, references, etc.), and other related tasks.
- Assisting in the maintenance of firm contacts in the database/CRM system and related e-marketing platforms.
- Maintaining ability to use and knowledge of various graphic design platforms and related databases to create content for collateral materials, the firm website, and client relationship management.
- Assisting in the management of the marketing budget, including payment of invoices, monthly reconciliation of the department’s credit card, and other related budgeting tasks.
- Supporting logistical tasks in relation to marketing deliverables prior to and during key trade shows, conferences, and industry events sponsored and attended by the firm's attorneys and representatives.
- Assisting in ordering merchandise and services from a broad range of vendors, including promotional items, stock photography, event supplies, photography services, etc.
- Supporting brand management by using and providing guidance on the accurate execution of firm brand elements, templates, logos, letterheads, etc.
- In collaboration with other members of the marketing team, analyzing and reporting on marketing data for strategic planning, competitive firm positioning, and other marketing and business development activities as needed.
What will you bring to the role?
- 2-4 years of experience in marketing, business development, and/or communications position.
- Professional services marketing experience, especially within the legal industry strongly preferred.
- Direct law firm experience with intellectual property and legal/litigation issues is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or related field preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to support multifaceted marketing and/or business development scope of work with excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to write clearly for proposals, marketing materials, daily communications, and presentations.
- Ability to handle some light to medium lifting, including the movement of stored premium (giveaway) items and handling/erecting the firm's tradeshow booth materials.
- Strong multi-tasker who is able to work well as a member of a team.
- A successful candidate will be self-motivated and independent with the ability to work on some projects with minimum of supervision.
- Strong customer service orientation is expected for engagement with attorneys and staff.
- Polished presentation and interpersonal skills required for representing the firm in diverse environments.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, Canva, and Adobe applications is a plus.
The good faith base salary range for this position is $65,000 to $80,000 per year. The actual salary rate offered to candidates within that range will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, years of relevant experience, education, and the candidate’s overall qualifications for the position as assessed by the Firm.
