What do we need?
We are looking for a Payroll Coordinator that will process payroll, be an efficient worker with strong organization skills, exacting attention to detail and work well as part of a team. This role will be responsible for employee data validation and payroll resolution, which includes system maintenance, processing wages, deductions, and other payments to ensure that all Directors and employees are paid correctly and on time. The Payroll Coordinator should be local to the D.C. metro area and willing to come to the office when requested.
What will you bring to the role?
- Coordinating and processing multi-state semi-monthly payroll in a timely and accurate manner.
- Assisting in ensuring all payroll data entry for new hires, terminations, rate changes, and employee classifications are correct for each payroll.
- Performing general day-to-day payroll tasks such as verifying payroll records by reviewing any changes to employee information or benefits such as job title, exemptions, and salary changes.
- Ensuring accuracy of hourly or salary amounts within payroll.
- Calculating final wages, PTO payouts, bonuses, and new employee prorated salaries.
- Monitoring and importing timecards each pay period.
- Preparing reports regarding payroll activities, payroll deductions, and garnishments.
- Assisting with reconciling annual employee W2’s in collaboration with the Accounting Manager.
- Providing excellent customer service by responding to and answering employee questions regarding payroll matters.
- Maintaining confidentiality of all employee payroll information.
What will you bring to the role?
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field preferred.
- A minimum of 1-2 years’ experience with Accounting and payroll operations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office with emphasis on Excel.
- Experience with UKG Pro payroll system is preferred.
- Experience in professional services accounting operations, public accounting or legal industry a plus.
- Must be detail-oriented and demonstrate a commitment to accuracy and thoroughness with the ability to meet strict deadlines.
- Knowledge of payroll accounting including federal, state, and local tax laws.
- Strong time management and self-organizational skills to meet deadlines and complete work efficiently.
- Ability to work both independently, as well as collaborate as part of a team.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills including the ability to interact with all levels of personnel.
- Communicate areas of concern regularly and proactively with management.
The good faith base salary range for this position is $50,000 to $68,000 per year. The actual salary rate offered to candidates within that range will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, years of relevant experience, education, and the candidate’s overall qualifications for the position as assessed by the Firm.
