Reporting to the Executive Officer of Institutional Inclusive Excellence, the Assistant Director of Inclusive Excellence assists with the collaborative management of the Office of Institutional Inclusive Excellence and the promotion of an inclusive learning and working environment for Stetson community members of all backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. The Assistant Director position is fully based at the College of Law’s Gulfport campus with a core focus on College of Law initiatives and duties, but will also occasionally contribute to some university-wide priorities.

The Assistant Director will assist with the administrative oversight and leadership of the Inclusive Excellence strategic framework in addition to co-designing, coordinating, and facilitating an array of co-curricular workshops, dialogues, and training programs. At the College of Law, the Assistant Director will serve as the deputy administrator and educator for a variety of diversity, inclusion, equity, and belonging initiatives and resources for student, staff, and faculty communities. The Assistant Director will also serve as the Office's primary liaison for law student engagement and will supervise the Office’s student research assistants and their institutional research projects.

The Executive Officer of Institutional Inclusive Excellence is committed to the professional success and development of the individual in this role. This includes supporting participation in an annual conference and other training opportunities, and will prioritize guidance in developing educational leadership experience with inclusive excellence as key area of expertise.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Employment duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate with the Executive Officer to carry out the overall function of the Office of Institutional Inclusive Excellence and the associated strategic plans and frameworks
  • Counsel students and employees on diversity, inclusion, equity, and belonging issues and initiatives, with a focus on promoting an inclusive and responsive campus climate
  • Co-design, coordinate, and facilitate diversity, inclusion, equity and belonging workshops, dialogues, and training programs as professional development for student, departments, staff, and faculty constituents in collaboration with the Executive Officer
  • Coordinate program/training tracking and assessments to analyze outcomes and effectiveness
  • Assist with research and development of inclusive services, resources, and best practices for higher education and law school environments
  • Oversee the Office’s collaborations with the College of Law’s Office of Student Affairs and student leaders by serving as the primary liaison to offer programming support and guidance
  • Manage the Office’s student engagement budget in support of all College of Law student organizations, and continuously educate student leaders about the Office’s resources and opportunities
  • Recruit, train, and supervise the Office’s student research assistants, in addition to guiding their assigned institutional research projects and applicable policy proposals
  • Coordinate the Office’s marketing, promotions, and other outreach efforts, including bi-semesterly Inclusive Excellence newsletters for both the College of Law and DeLand campuses
  • Collaboratively lead (or co-lead) the coordination of key signature programs on behalf of the College of Law, including but not limited to the College of Law’s participation in the: St. Petersburg MLK Parade (January), National Day of Racial Healing (January), and Pride Parade (June)
  • Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the Executive Officer
