We are looking for a 2nd Shift Production Supervisor to join our leadership team at our facility in Aurora, CO. This position is responsible for overseeing the production of quality and safe food as well as ensuring production standards on specific assignments within required time are followed. This position is also responsible for understanding related Quality Management Systems including SQF, HACCP, and GMP to ensure safety and quality of employees and products. The job duties include responsibility for assuring food safety and for food quality for Dessert Holdings products. A supervisor or other person of authority should be notified if any issues or threats to food safety or food quality are observed.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead and provide direction to up to 80 people per shift, including managing employee rotations, training, and breaks, to ensure that work is performed safely while meeting quality specifications
- Train and coach production line employees to meet food safety, human safety and food quality standards at all times.
- Understand how to safely operate all the equipment within their assigned area of responsibility.
- Coordinate production startup, shutdown and changeovers
- Ensure that overtime for line employees is kept to a minimum, unless approved by a Production Manager.
- Report and track waste and actively identify ways to reduce waste and to create efficiencies while meeting company goals
- Maintain production records in a timely manner.
- Understand and fill production reports and logs on a daily basis.
- Inspect and give final sign off on all production labels when necessary.
- Display appropriate work ethic in the workplace and group settings which provides a positive influence on the production floor.
- Maintain good housekeeping and clean work areas in assigned space.
- Supervise production line in accordance with established Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) policies and procedures.
- Assure that all work assigned is performed in accordance with specifications, instructions and requirements.
- Follow production dress code standards and maintains good personal hygiene and makes sure all employees do the same.
- Partner with Production Manager to schedule and conduct shift meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Prior supervisory experience
- Good understanding of Quality Systems and familiarity with SQF, HACCP, and GMP practices.
- Good communication skills; bilingual English and Spanish preferred
- Able to stay focused in a loud working environment.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule and be willing to work overtime, including weekends if necessary.
- Must be able to read and write in either English or Spanish.
- Must understand basic mathematical concepts.
- Must be able to work in a fast paced, team environment.
- Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment requiring strict work/safety rules 100% of the time.
- Basic computer skills required.
REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
HACCP Certification once hired.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
Able to stand for at least ten hours per day and may have various repetitive motion duties.
Use hands and fingers to handle objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms.
Must be able to stoop, kneel or bend.
Employee must lift up to 50 pounds and is required to ask for assistance if limit is exceeded.
Must be able to keep eyes focused on a conveyor belt for a maximum five hours at one time.
Must be able to work in a food allergens environment.
Working environment provides exposure to environmental changes (heat, cold, dampness, and chemicals). Employee must be able to sustain these changes throughout the shift.
