What are the responsibilities and job description for the 3rd shift Press Operator position at Stevens Industries Inc?
Stevens is currently searching for a Press Operator. The Laminating Press Operator will be assigned to a press as the primary operator. It will be the Precision Press Operators PPO responsibility to ensure the efficient operation of a laminating press. The Precision Operator will operate the pressing process at predetermined press cycles. As indicated on the product set up sheets, the PPO will be responsible for workplace safety, set-ups, machine calibrations, quality control, materials procurement, record keeping, and documentation, package identification, scrap control and documentation as well as many other necessary details in the efficient operation of laminating press. The pressing process requires a thorough understanding of the laminating process and the materials. The PPO will be responsible to deliver a high quality laminated panel to our customers, meeting scheduled delivery times. The PPO is also responsible for the ongoing training and development of the Production Press Operator assigned to their work center.
Requirements:- A high school diploma/GED required. Additional training gained through technical school and trade programs strongly preferred.
- Two years of previous manufacturing experience preferred.
- Ability to read, understand, and apply content of written materials, such as instruction manuals, procedure manuals, or assembly materials.
- Ability to assist in solving operating problems that are unique or result from a pilot or first run process.
- Possess writing skills to accomplish such tasks as completing forms or communicating simple instructions.
- Perform basic mathematic calculations used to set up and operate machines and equipment. Must be familiar with the Metric system and conversion into Metric.
- Ability to read and comprehend blueprints, drawings, and work instructions, drilling patterns, layouts, and labels.
- Ability to make decisions and/or final recommendations which affect a department.
- Ability to complete tasks using latitude to decide what is to be done and when the work is to be completed. Results are reviewed for overall adherence to established objectives, policies or budgets.
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures and safety rules.
- Basic mechanical skills, use of hand tools, measuring devices, and power tools once trained along with a basic understanding of the metric system and use of tape measures. Must have manual dexterity and good eye/hand coordination.
- Ability to work together as a team to achieve productivity goals.
- Knowledge of all safety requirements and procedures including never operating any machinery without prior training.
- Physical ability to meet demands of the position including, standing, carrying, lifting, pushing, and pulling and overall physical strength and dexterity.
- Willingness to cross train for different job tasks in the area.
- Possess a pride in workmanship and your attention to detail.
- Responsible for keeping a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
