There are 12 regional Cooperative Educational Service Agencies in Wisconsin. CESA 9 is located in Tomahawk, Wisconsin and serves 22 school districts in North Central Wisconsin. The Associate Director of Wisconsin Virtual School (WVS): Curriculum position plays a key role in supporting the educational vision and operational success of CESA 9 and Wisconsin Virtual School. The position requires high energy, entrepreneurial problem-solving, and expertise in online and blended learning environments. As the Associate Director, you will play a vital role in ensuring the quality, functionality, and continuous improvement of our courses, tools, and educational resources. This position is primarily remote but requires occasional in-person work at the CESA 9 office in Tomahawk, WI. Additional travel may be required for conferences and professional learning events as assigned.
Performance Responsibilities:
Course Development & Maintenance:
Troubleshoot and resolve issues in partner developed courses.
Collaborate with partners to plan and implement course enhancements.
Conduct error management and quality reviews of vendor courses.
Evaluate and recommend courses for inclusion in the WVS catalog.
Curriculum Tools & Integrations:
Provide expertise in course infrastructure and authoring tools, including Genius, Buzz, CourseArc, and H5P.
Ensure seamless integration with 3rd-party tools like EdReady, Carnegie Mellon University classroom content, and coding and video platforms (e.g. PlayCanvas, Scratch, DaVinci).
Oversee and manage WVS Advanced Placement (AP) courses, including syllabus approvals and teacher support.
Resource Management:
Monitor course material needs, maintain materials lists, and collaborate with vendors.
Support processes for tools such as Talkabroad and textbook vendors.
Operational Support:
Maintain essential tools, including curriculum review trackers, course “Playground” environment, course catalogs, and roster course code spreadsheets.
Serve on the Virtual Learning Leadership Alliance (VLLA) Curriculum Workgroup and collaborate on joint initiatives.
Communication & Professional Development:
Draft curriculum-related communications for newsletters, staff meetings, and professional learning sessions.

Valid Wisconsin teaching license and a background teaching middle school and/or high school level content preferably Science and or Math.
Minimum of three years teaching experience required. Online teaching experience is preferred.
Experience working in Buzz (Learning Management System) and Genius (Student Information System) platforms.
Proficiency in Google for Education workflows, coding tools, and digital education platforms.
Experience with spreadsheet and other data manipulation and analysis
Familiarity with various Artificial Intelligence tools for productivity and curriculum development.
Understanding of CourseArc, H5P, or other authoring tools.
Curriculum planning and/or instructional design experience.
Familiarity with accessible content design, including accessible equation writing and scientific image alt-texting.
Experience with troubleshooting and creating asynchronous tutorials/training materials.
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Comfortable supporting professional learning in areas of expertise.
Strong time management and collaborative skills for working remotely, independently, and as part of a team.
Valid driver’s license and access to an insured motor vehicle, or other timely access to private transportation, for travel to school districts, meetings, or other off-site destinations
Such other qualifications as the CESA 9 Administrator and the CESA 9 Board of Control may deem appropriate
