The Greendale School District is accepting applications for a Childcare Director. This position is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the school district’s before and after school childcare and summer care programs. This role ensures that high-quality, safe, and engaging care is provided to school-aged students in a nurturing environment. The Childcare Director will supervise staff, manage schedules, communicate with parents, and maintain compliance with district policies and regulations. This position is responsible for providing a safe and engaging environment for children, appropriate to their physical, social, and emotional developmental needs.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee the implementation of the Bridge for Kids (before and after school) and Summer Adventure Club programs while providing support to the Bloom N Grow and Care 4 Kids programs by ensuring a positive, safe, and engaging experience for all children at each site.

Provide high quality childcare for children in a nurturing, respectful, and engaging environment.
Ensure that programs align with district objectives and support students' academic, social, and emotional development.
Develop and review program activities, schedules, and lesson plans that are age-appropriate, engaging, and aligned with educational goals.
Hire, train, schedule, and supervise childcare staff.
Oversee childcare lead site supervisors and provide support and guidance where needed.
Create, maintain, and distribute registration forms to families.
Purchase consumables for general supplies and snacks for the childcare program.
Inventory equipment and supplies while ensuring all equipment is in good working order and safe.
Provide customer service to customers that includes answering phone calls, helping customers at the office front counter, and accepting payments for all Park & Recreation Department programs.
Assist the Childcare Bookkeeper with processing childcare calendar payments and financial tracking.
Create and maintain monthly attendance calendars for each site.
Oversee and approve childcare staff payroll.
Regularly monitor and maintain safety protocols to ensure a safe, secure, and clean environment at all of our childcare sites and rooms.
Facilitate a partnership with parents. Openly communicate with parents regarding student behavior and progress. Listen and respond to parent concerns.
Assist the Park & Recreation Director on the childcares budget to ensure that resources are allocated efficiently and effectively.
Oversee the procurement of supplies, materials, and equipment necessary for program activities.
Identify opportunities for program expansion or enhancement to meet the evolving needs of students and families.
Stay up-to-date on best practices, trends, and changes in childcare, education, and after-school programming.
Assist with all Park & Recreation Department programs where needed by working cooperatively as a team member.
Other duties as assigned by supervisory staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:
-
Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, Social Work, or a related field (preferred).
Minimum of 3 years of experience working in childcare or educational programs, preferably in a school or district setting.
Strong knowledge of early childhood development and educational standards for before and after school care.
Ability to lead, train, and motivate a team of childcare professionals.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
Ability to exercise sound judgment and act independently.
Ability to interact positively with students, parents, staff and the general public.
Ability to maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students and staff.
Experience with budget management and resource allocation.
Demonstrate a respect for diversity among others.
Ability and willingness to perform physical interventions including personal safety techniques and physical restraint of students who are a danger to self or others.
Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings and evenings, to support the program schedule. Schedule and hours will vary depending on time of year.
CPR/First Aid certification (or the ability to obtain certification).
Knowledge of school safety and emergency response procedures.
