Position Summary:
This position prepares and serves breakfast, lunch, and other food to children and adults in a courteous customer service-oriented manner. This position also, organizes and sets up equipment and workstations and assists with cleaning and maintaining the cafeteria and food prep area in accordance with health, food service, government, and other regulations.
As a member of the staff, the incumbent must be personally committed to the Mission of 21st Century Preparatory School “to prepare diverse children for access to the full array of life choices, including college and careers that develop their leadership competency. We take individual differences seriously and craft practices that serve each child equally well. We mold our future leaders through selfless caring for their success”.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.
Assists in the preparation of food portions and prepare the cafeteria counter.
Serves students and staff from the cafeteria counter.
Removes used dishes and assists in the cleaning of counters, tables, and furnishings in the dining area.
Takes turn in washing pots and pans.
Practice proper sanitation procedures.
Exhibit courtesy and understanding to staff and students.
Set-up and break down of serving areas.
Participate in formal and informal training.
Performs related work as required.

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and use hands or fingers, handle or touch objects, tools or controls, keyboard or phone. The employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee may be required to sit; walk and stoop, kneel, or crouch and walk stairs. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
The work environment is indoors, in a 2 story education facility with elevator, and stairs structured to accommodate K4-8th grade students. Outdoor services may be required to monitor and assist with the students during dismissal and other outside activities.
