Description
This is a full-time, year round position - will work as a first shift Groundskeeper from approximately mid-March through the end of October each year (depending on weather and grounds conditions); will work as a second shift Custodian from approximately November to mid-March each year. 1st shift hours are 6 am - 2:30 pm and 2nd shift hours are 2:30 - 11 pm. Pay is $16.88 per hour. There is a $0.40 per hour shift differential when working 2nd shift. Outstanding benefits including the opportunity for no-premium health insurance and participating in the Wisconsin Retirement System.

Qualifications
General Qualifications
1. High school graduate / GED and /or two years of progressive occupational experience with a minimum of one year being in relatively complex facilities.
2. Ability to work independently – must demonstrate self-motivation.
3. Ability to operate multiple pieces of equipment, re: mowers, skid loader, tractors, painters, buffers, waxers, etc.
4. Ability to work with hand tools, gardening tools and power equipment.
5. Ability to work occasional weekends.
6. Tolerance for and ability to work with chemicals, paints, fuel, lubricants, fertilizers.
7. Ability to work in different weather conditions with exposure to the elements.
8. Ability to understand oral and written instructions.
9. Ability to bend or stoop repeatedly.
10. Possess a valid Wisconsin Drivers License.
11. Ability to obtain valid forklift operator certification.
12. Demonstrate a continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes and work cooperatively with school staff and the general public.
13. Ability to lift 50 pounds loading and unloading for periods of up to one hour, 100 pounds infrequently. Physical capabilities include bending, twisting, repetitive side-to-side motion and repetitive wrist motion, as well as the ability to reach, carry, push, pull, lift and handle item(s) weighing 100 pounds while performing work duties. Position requires unrestricted mobility on a regular and consistent basis for the majority of the workday.
14. Demonstrated ability to provide simple direction to others.
Additional “Preferred” Qualifications:
1. First aid certification and CPR certification.
2. Wisconsin Certified Pest Applicators license.
3. Forklift operator training and certificate.
4. Verifiable mechanical repair or certification, particularly with turf equipment.
