The Sun Prairie Area School District is seeking a qualified, compassionate individual to provide student transportation to and from school and other school-based activities. Drivers will use a district-owned van and follow a daily/weekly schedule provided. This position is active Monday-Friday when school is in session for students, following the school district calendar. Routes can be split between multiple drivers, based on driver availability. Purpose of Position
The purpose of this position is to provide student transportation to and from school and other school-based activities following a daily/weekly schedule provided.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The following duties are typical for this position and are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other related duties may be required and assigned.
Monday-Friday on days that school is in session. Driving schedule will remain consistent, but is largely dependent on student needs throughout the day. Typical driving hours may include morning routes, midday, and afternoon routes. Routes can be split between multiple drivers, based on driver availability.
Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions
High School graduate with five years driving experience and a clean driving record, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Must pass a background check. Five years of caregiving experience preferred. Participate in district-provided onboarding and relevant training related to working with students, i.e. mandated reporting, trauma-informed practices, basic behavior management, etc. Drivers with experience working with children are preferred.

- Operate and drive a district van.
- Drive identified groups of students to and from school according to a daily/weekly schedule provided.
- Maintain confidentiality of student and family information.
- Supervise and engage in positive interactions with students while in the vehicle; address any behavioral needs that occur following district practices.
- Regularly communicate with McKinney Vento Coordinator and/or school social workers about transportation needs.
- Communicate with McKinney Vento Coordinator and/or school staff regarding any behavioral or other concerns.
- Maintains basic vehicle upkeep including monitoring fluids, bulbs, tires, keeping gasoline at appropriate levels, and keeping the vehicle clean.
- Monitor and communicate any vehicle maintenance issues to Facilities and Grounds, including the occasional transport of vehicles for repairs and/or maintenance.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Services.
