Description
The Oak Creek-Franklin Joint School District is currently seeking to fill a Special Education Instructional Aides at Forest Ridge Elementary School.
Hours: 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. (1/2 hours unpaid break)
Role Overview:
- Support special education case managers in ensuring that the required educational and behavioral minutes of learners under your care are met.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education case managers, school psychologists, and the principal to align services provided with specific learner goals.
- Create a safe environment through active supervision in the cafeteria and on the playground.
- Attend select in-service days to continuously enhance professional practices (paid).
- Participate in monthly support staff meetings to collectively enhance existing supervisory and academic/behavioral support systems.
- Work 1 on 1 with a student that requires physical and academic assistance.
- Duties may include transferring from wheel chair to different locations and toileting.

Qualifications
Education/Training:
High school diploma or equivalent required. College course work leading to elementary teaching certification preferred.
Experience:
2-3 years working with elementary level students preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
1. Ability to work well with students, staff, and public.
2. Ability to organize and prioritize workload.
3. Must have good independent judgment in routine and non-routine situations.
4. Ability to identify similarities/differences in comparing colors, forms and sounds.
5. Must be patient and innovative.
6. Must have willingness and ability to follow detailed verbal and written directives.
7. Must have good oral and written communication skills.
8. Must work well under directions from two or more supervisors.
9. Must be accurate and detailed in work performance.
10. Must be creative and resourceful.
11. Must be a positive role model for students.
12. Must be dependable, punctual and have a good attendance record.
13. Must have good evaluations.
14. Must have a positive attitude toward education.
15. Must be aware of and sensitive to the needs of students.
16. Must be willing to update educational skills.
