Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership And Team Management
- Manage, mentor, and coach a team of safety professionals.
- Foster a collaborative and results-driven team culture.
- Set clear expectations, performance standards, and key performance indicators (KPIs) for team members.
- The Safety Supervisor Manager will work closely with the Safety Director to facilitate a seamless safety operation. This collaboration involves:
- Serving as a liaison between the Safety Director and the Safety Supervisors they manage, fostering effective communication and coordination within the Safety Department.
- Learning from the Safety Director's extensive experience and insights to continually enhance their own proficiency.
- Support company safety programs and initiatives.
- Stay current with FMCSA and DOT regulations and ensure company-wide compliance.
- Establish KPIs for each role within the Safety Hallway in coordination with direct reports.
- Provide training and education to safety personnel and team members in the driving fleet.
- Promote a culture of safety awareness and continuous improvement.
- Proactively identify trends, areas of improvement, and root causes of accidents and incidents.
- Develop and implement strategies to reduce accidents and incidents.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, executives, and all stakeholders.
- Collaborate with other safety managers and operations teams to ensure a cohesive approach to safety.
- The Safety Supervisor Manager should demonstrate a strong ability to collaborate with the Operations Safety Manager, who oversees Fleet Safety Managers. Together, they will form a critical partnership in aligning safety efforts across the terminal. This includes sharing best practices, addressing safety-related challenges, and working closely to ensure consistency in safety protocols and education. Effective collaboration with the Operations Safety Manager is essential to maintaining a cohesive safety strategy across the organization.
- Analyze safety-related data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Prepare and present reports on safety performance to senior management.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in fleet safety management.
- Demonstrated ability to manage people and processes effectively.
- Strong communication and critical thinking skills.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including safety software and Microsoft Office.
- In-depth knowledge of FMCSA and DOT regulations and company safety policies.
- Proactive mindset in achieving safety goals and reducing accidents and incidents.
- Track record of establishing KPIs and measuring metrics to drive process and productivity improvements.
- Strong leadership and coaching skills.
- Extroverted personality with the ability to interact with individuals at all levels.
- Willingness to work collaboratively with other safety managers and operations teams.
- Extensive knowledge of safety regulations in the trucking and transportation industry.
- Proven experience in safety management within a trucking or logistics environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Strong knowledge of FMCSA and DOT regulations and company policies regarding safety
- In-depth working knowledge of all applicable safety rules and regulations
- Highly organized and communicative - must be able to interact effectively at all levels, both internally and externally
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team
- Ability to perform in an environment with ambiguous situations, rapidly changing priorities and competing deadlines
- Proven record of making well-informed decisions in both routine and emergency situations
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting.
- Certifications in fleet safety management is advantageous.

- Previous over-the-road irregular route driving with a major motor carrier.
