Description
The Assistant Director of Communication Arts assists the Director in the administration of the academic program of the Communication Arts Division.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Assists in the observation and evaluation of faculty members
- Assists in the hiring process for new faculty and support staff members
- Assists in monitoring Professional Development Plans and Remediation Plans as necessary
- Leads Response to Intervention initiatives in the division in collaboration with the Director of Student Learning Programs and paraprofessionals assigned to support our division work
- Supports the faculty in the collaborative process
- Assists with assessment initiatives
- Assists with procurement of necessary texts and materials for English and literacy instruction
- Supervises the “weekly progress grade” and SAT/ACT remediation programs as part of RtI
- Assists in the review of course CFAs prior to their administration
- Assists in the review of the CFA results, both course-wide as well as teacher-by-teacher
- Assists in the review of Letters of Intent, and will jointly make recommendations to the school administrative team
- Assists in the implementation and monitoring of the literacy goals outlined for the Communication Arts Division
- Assists in planning and implementing consortium articulation meetings
- Provides a sense of direction to staff and students around the Portrait of a Graduate, District GPI’s, and division collective commitments
- Promotes a positive climate within the division
- Models the behavior and attitudes he/she is attempting to promote in others
- Ability to accurately assess the effectiveness of teachers and instructional programs
- Ability to organize personnel, materials, and facilities into an effective learning environment
- Ability to formulate and achieve long-range goals
- Knowledgeable of research on effective current educational theory and practiceQualifications and Requirements:
- Master’s Degree, required
- ISBE Teaching Licensure, required
- ISBE Administrative Licensure, required
- Five years of teaching experience, preferred
- Observer Training as outlined by ISBE, required
