Plant General Manager-Stevenson Mill
Stevenson, Alabama
The Plant General Manager is the leader of our Stevenson, Alabama team. The manager is responsible for Safety, Efficiency, and Quality. The manager is responsible for leading cross-functional teams. Job responsibilities include overseeing the hiring and training of team members, producing and reviewing production records, reviewing financial statements, maintaining and improving the facility, as well as other managerial responsibilities. Stevenson Mill is currently undergoing modernization and is a one-shift facility.
Compensation: $150,000 to $200,000, including salary and profit sharing. This position is heavily dependent on mill performance.
Key Responsibilities of The Plant General Manager:
Production Management:
- Overseeing daily production operations to meet production targets and deadlines.
- Managing production schedules, optimizing workflow, and addressing production bottlenecks.
- Implementing continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and productivity.
Quality Control:
- Ensuring adherence to quality standards and specifications throughout the manufacturing process.
- Investigating and resolving quality issues promptly
Team Leadership:
- Leading and motivating a cross-functional team across different departments within the manufacturing facility
- Developing and mentoring staff to enhance their skills and performance
- Managing employee performance and addressing performance issues
Cost Management:
- Monitoring and controlling manufacturing costs
- Identifying cost-saving opportunities and implementing strategies to optimize production expenses
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensuring adherence to all safety regulations and procedures within the manufacturing plant
- Promoting a culture of safety awareness among employees
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven success in a managerial role
- Strong decision-making ability
- Strong analytical ability or experience to evaluate and understand process and material deviation for continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and delegation skills
- Proven ability to develop and achieve financial plans.
- Ability to motivate and lead employees and hold them accountable.
- Strong working knowledge of operational procedures
- Microsoft Office Proficient
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience in manufacturing leadership role
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, operations management, or a related field
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Minimum of 5 plus years of managerial or wood industry-related experience
- Experience in conducting performance evaluations.
- Working knowledge of human-resources processes.
