Wine and Spirits Specialist
Full Time Hourly – $21.00 - $26.00 per hour

Position Description:
Serves as the in-store wine and spirits specialist, able to assist customers and make recommendations on selections and food pairings. Maintains profiles of best customers and builds relationships via email, phone and in-store contact, and grows sales. Helps educate staff and customers, stays on top of trends and makes recommendations of products to carry to stay relevant in a changing market.

Wine and Spirits Specialist

Position Description:
Serves as the in-store wine and spirits specialist, able to assist customers and make recommendations on selections and food pairings. Maintains profiles of best customers and builds relationships via email, phone and in-store contact, and grows sales. Helps educate staff and customers, stays on top of trends and makes recommendations of products to carry to stay relevant in a changing market.
Your day-to-day:
- Maintains high visibility and assists customers on sales floor.
- Demonstrates exceptional service and selling skills.
- Develops and maintains “Black Book” of best customers.
- Prepares weekly emails/newsletters.
- Uses email, phone and in-store contact to build and maintain strong customer base.
- Maintains frequent contact with best customers to alert them to allocated wines, and spirits, wine buys and upcoming events.
- Supports all sales, promotions and campaigns.
- Works closely with Wine Store Manager to achieve sales goals.
- Designs and implements Wine 101 Class, and Spirits 1010 class with main focus on CTS wines, and top selling spirits.
- Plans and executes events within Wine Store.
- Creates signage that tells a story.
- Maintains cocktail program, researching, suggesting, creating cocktails to have posted on the website, and available as suggestion for customers in store
- Helps with merchandising the store to maximize sales in both spirits and wine
- Helps with special orders.
- Works the tasting table.
- Helps with staff sampling.
- Closes/opens store as needed.
- Teaches/inspires store staff with wine knowledge.
- Hosts in-house training classes for customers and team members.
- 5 years’ experience in Wine Industry
- Achieved Wine and Spirits Education Certifications – may include WSET, Certified Specialist of Wine (CSW) or other recognized certifications.
- Knowledgeable of wine and spirits pricing, signage, wine and food pairings
- Strong selling skills
- Must be able to work evenings, weekends, periods leading up to major retail holidays, and holidays as necessary for the business.
- Greet customers with a friendly smile and positive attitude, ensuring that each customer feels welcome and appreciated.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure the smooth operation of the store, offering assistance and support where needed.
- Improve and maintain the efficiency of the store in order to reach success.
- Be a positive ambassador for the store, representing our S.T.E.W. values in all interactions with customers and team members. You are the biggest WOW!
