Job Summary

In this role, you will drive cost reduction initiatives across procurement, design, and assembly processes for our line of mobile street sweeping equipment. You will oversee production-specific procurement, manage production schedules, and lead continuous improvement efforts to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.

Core Responsibilities

Cost Reduction Strategies:

• Develop and implement strategies to reduce costs in procurement, design, and assembly.
• Analyze current processes to identify areas for cost optimization, proposing solutions to reduce material, labor, and overhead costs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement cost-saving opportunities in product design, component selection, and assembly processes.
  
  

Assembly Process Management

• Coordinate and manage assembly schedules to ensure timely and efficient processes.
• Develop and implement systems and procedures to enhance assembly techniques.
  
  

Quality Control And Assurance

• Collaborate with the Production Operations Manager to maintain quality control measures and inspection protocols, ensuring all products meet the highest standards.
  
  

Procurement Optimization

• Manage the procurement of manufactured components and identify cost-effective suppliers.
• Negotiate favorable terms with suppliers and optimize the supply chain to reduce material costs and lead times.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
• Oversee outsourced fabrication vendors to ensure part quality and timely delivery.
  
  

Design For Assembly (DFA)

• Collaborate with the design team to optimize product designs for assembly efficiency and cost reduction.
• Conduct DFA analyses to identify design improvements that streamline assembly processes.
• Provide recommendations for design changes to enhance quality and reduce costs.
  
  

Continuous Improvement

• Implement continuous improvement principles to streamline assembly processes and reduce waste.
• Drive initiatives to optimize assembly line efficiency, reduce cycle times, and minimize costs.
• Train and mentor assembly staff on cost reduction strategies and process improvement practices.
  
  

Compliance And Safety

• Ensure adherence to industry and company safety standards and regulations.
  
  

Technical Support And Training

• Provide technical expertise and support to assembly teams.
• Create training resources for incoming and current assembly team members.
  
  

Reporting

• Prepare regular reports on assembly activities, progress, challenges, and cost reduction initiatives, generating insights for decision-making.
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related field) with a focus on assembly process optimization and cost reduction.
• 5 years of experience in an engineering role, with a proven track record in cost reduction through procurement, design, and assembly improvements.
• Strong knowledge of DFA principles, process improvement techniques, cost analysis methodologies, and quality control.
• Proficient in data analysis, cost modeling, and reporting.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership abilities.
