Core Responsibilities
Cost Reduction Strategies:
- Develop and implement strategies to reduce costs in procurement, design, and assembly.
- Analyze current processes to identify areas for cost optimization, proposing solutions to reduce material, labor, and overhead costs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement cost-saving opportunities in product design, component selection, and assembly processes.
- Coordinate and manage assembly schedules to ensure timely and efficient processes.
- Develop and implement systems and procedures to enhance assembly techniques.
- Collaborate with the Production Operations Manager to maintain quality control measures and inspection protocols, ensuring all products meet the highest standards.
- Manage the procurement of manufactured components and identify cost-effective suppliers.
- Negotiate favorable terms with suppliers and optimize the supply chain to reduce material costs and lead times.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Oversee outsourced fabrication vendors to ensure part quality and timely delivery.
- Collaborate with the design team to optimize product designs for assembly efficiency and cost reduction.
- Conduct DFA analyses to identify design improvements that streamline assembly processes.
- Provide recommendations for design changes to enhance quality and reduce costs.
- Implement continuous improvement principles to streamline assembly processes and reduce waste.
- Drive initiatives to optimize assembly line efficiency, reduce cycle times, and minimize costs.
- Train and mentor assembly staff on cost reduction strategies and process improvement practices.
- Ensure adherence to industry and company safety standards and regulations.
- Provide technical expertise and support to assembly teams.
- Create training resources for incoming and current assembly team members.
- Prepare regular reports on assembly activities, progress, challenges, and cost reduction initiatives, generating insights for decision-making.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related field) with a focus on assembly process optimization and cost reduction.
- 5 years of experience in an engineering role, with a proven track record in cost reduction through procurement, design, and assembly improvements.
- Strong knowledge of DFA principles, process improvement techniques, cost analysis methodologies, and quality control.
- Proficient in data analysis, cost modeling, and reporting.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset.
