Job Title: Certified Coding Specialist
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Responsible for gathering charge information, coding, entering into data base, complete billing process and distributing billing information. Responsible for processing and filing insurance claims and assists patients in completing insurance forms.
LOCATION: Remote Office
SUPERVISON RECEIVED: Reports to Billing Supervisor. Employee to report all questions, issues, concerns, and suggestions to Billing Supervisor who will then report issue to Billing Manager. If situation warrants, the matter will be escalated by the Billing Manager to the Operations Manager and they to the Company Owner if warranted. Employee may at any time request an update on the reported situation from the Billing Supervisor.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Researches all information needed to complete billing process including getting charge information from physicians through management.
- Interprets progress notes, operative reports, discharge summaries, and charge documents to determine appropriate and accurate CPT/ ICD 10 coding.
- Contacts physicians through management regarding procedures and other services billed to ensure proper coding.
- Assists in the processing of insurance claims including Medicaid/Medicare claims.
- Assists patients in completing all necessary forms, to include payment arrangements made with patients. Answers patient questions and concerns.
- Keys charge information into entry program and produces billing.
- Processes and distributes copies of billings according to clinic policies.
- Follows-up with insurance companies and ensures claims are paid/processed.
- Resubmits insurance claims that have received no response or are not on file.
- Works with other staff to follow-up on accounts until zero balance.
- Assists error resolution.
- Maintains required billing records, reports, files.
- Researches return mail.
- Answers telephone, screens calls, takes messages, and provides information.
- Assumes responsibility for own learning through attending continuing education programs, seminars, webinars, workshops as related to current area of responsibility.
- Attending mandatory training or office meetings.
- Maintains strictest confidentiality.
- Other duties as assigned.
