Position Overview: A Deli team member at Stewarts Marketplace enhances customers' shopping experience. They are responsible for providing excellent customer service while preparing and serving a variety of deli products. This role requires food preparation, customer interaction, and maintaining a clean and organized deli department.
Key Responsibilities:
- The team member will slice, weigh, and package products according to customer orders and prepare other deli items per store recipe and guidelines.
- The team member will greet and assist customers in a friendly and helpful manner, provide product recommendations, and answer customers' questions. They will also take customer orders and process payments through the register.
- The team member will help clean and maintain display cases, check pricing and labeling to ensure products are up to date, remove expired items, and rotate and restock fresh items as needed.
- The team member will follow strict food handling and safety procedures, maintaining adequate cleaning and sanitizing safety for the workspace and equipment and monitor and record correct food temperatures. This commitment to safety creates a secure work environment. They will also adhere to appropriate daily personal hygiene.
- As part of a dynamic team, team members will work closely with other team members to maintain a clean and safe work environment. They will follow shift guidelines, procedures, and checklists to ensure efficient operations.
- Follow the stores and the deli department's uniform guidelines to help maintain cleanliness and food safety.
Qualifications:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Previous experience in food service or deli work is a plus.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and procedures.
- Ability to get and keep food handlers permit.
- Vital customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
- Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as required.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding area that requires constant movement, stand for extended periods and lift 40 pounds or more regularly.
