What are the responsibilities and job description for the Concrete Foreman position at Stewart & Tate Inc?
Summary
The Concrete Foreman will be responsible for planning and coordinating concrete projects from start to finish. The individual must be able to demonstrate the ability to be a team leader and must be willing to show respect for all co-workers and customers.
Essential Functions

- Provides Leadership of concrete crew to perform job functions according to job specifications and approved blueprints.
- Responsible for Safety toolbox talks and other Safety documented processed with their crew
- Embraces and accepts Safety responsibility of their crew, customers and vendors around the assigned job site.
- Must keep building and/or assigned areas of jobsite clean and organized as necessary to maintain a Safe and productive working environment.
- Ensures that proper Safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. Brings problems to the attention of the Foreman/General Superintendent, Safety Director or HR manager.
- Manages time reporting of job site crew through company supplied electronic tablet.
- Ability to plan and execute your work to provide the highest efficiency possible, ensuring you have the proper tools and materials to perform the task or project.
- Must keep building and/or assigned areas of jobsite clean and organized as necessary to maintain a Safe and productive working environment
- Assist in excavation of proposed area to be poured.
- Assist in building forms for proposed pour, whether it is a flat pour, pier or foundation.
- Assist in setting forms and making sure they are at proper grade or height.
- Grade stone for proposed pour if required.
- Pour, level and finish freshly poured concrete as the specification of the job or construction site requires.
- Other duties as assigned
Competencies
- 3-5 years’ of leadership experience preferred
- 3-5 years of structural concrete and flat work concrete preferred
- Ability to read blue prints
- Willing to work outside in all types of weather
- Ability to work overtime as needed
- Ability to travel as needed (typically less than 10% of the time)
- Must provide own trowel, float, and concrete boots
- In-depth knowledge of construction procedures, equipment and OSHA guidelines
- Must have a valid driver’s license with the ability to hold a Med Card
- Clean driving record
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. The position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The position lifts heavy objects, walks and stands for long periods of time and performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. The employee lifts, pushes, pulls or carries objects; uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue; and effectively jumps, sprints or throws objects. The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination. The employee must frequently lift or move items up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move items up to 100 pounds. The employee must have excellent stamina.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 6a.m. to 4 p.m. Starting time will change depending on the job. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
