The Role of the Paramedic:
Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) assess and stabilize patients using Basic Life Support (BLS) skills, respond to emergent and non-emergent calls, and provide safe, time-bound transportation for patients to designated hospitals or facilities. They communicate with licensed medical professionals, drive in various traffic and weather conditions, and perform minor vehicle maintenance tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Transport injured or sick individuals to medical facilities
- Determine the nature and extent of illness or injury to establish first aid procedures
- Administer prescribed first-aid treatment at site of emergency or in specially equipped vehicle
- Monitor communication equipment to maintain contact with dispatcher
- Communicate with medical personnel at emergency treatment facilities
Requirements:
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record through DMV background check
- Ability to obtain state certification as EMT or Paramedic
- CPR Certification and registration with NREMT
- Commitment to providing exemplary customer service
