Job Overview
Seeking experienced Commissioning Technician who will be responsible for performing specialized testing and troubleshooting tasks. We are looking for a highly skilled technician with a strong understanding of commissioning and testing protocols. This role involves ensuring that all systems and components of the solar farm are installed, tested, and operating according to the project specifications and industry standards. Prior experience in the utility-scale construction industry is required.
Responsibilities
- Conduct Insulation Resistance Testing (IRT) for electrical systems.
- Perform VOC testing and identify potential issues through troubleshooting.
- Utilize and interpret IV Curve Tracing, FoP (Field of Performance), and PtoP (Point-to-Point Testing) results.
- Execute IMP testing to ensure system compliance.
- Perform thermal imaging for system diagnostics and reporting.
- Conduct visual inspections and electrical tests to ensure proper installation.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during the commissioning process.
- Document all commissioning activities, including test results and any issues encountered.
- Prepare detailed reports for project managers and stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in commissioning utility-scale solar PV systems.
- Strong understanding of PV solar and battery storage hazards, workplace safety requirements, and dedication to follow safety procedures.
- Proficiency in using testing and diagnostic equipment.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to travel to job sites as required.
- Proven experience in the above-mentioned testing and troubleshooting areas.
- A solid understanding of industry standards and best practices.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
- Lifting and Carrying: Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and materials, often weighing up to 50 pounds or more.
- Standing and Walking: Prolonged periods of standing and walking across uneven terrain.
- Climbing: Climbing ladders and scaffolding to access different parts of the installation.
- Bending and Stooping: Frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling to install and inspect components.
- Manual Dexterity: Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for handling tools and small components.
- Weather Conditions: Working outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and rain.
- Safety Gear: Wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toed boots.
