What are the responsibilities and job description for the Supervisor Medical Records ROC FT position at STHS-ROC?
Responsibilities:
POSITION SUMMARY:
The HIM Supervisor is responsible for overseeing functions and activities of the medical record/chart processing area for South Texas Health System facilities. The supervisor manages workloads and staffing resources to ensure all charts are prepped, scanned and processed through quality control. This process includes discharged records in addition to migration to concurrent scanning at the nursing units for the inpatient areas. The supervisor will also oversee the outpatient point of service areas to ensure proper concurrent scanning is in place. Works closely with HIM System Analyst to ensure appropriate training of outpatient units that perform concurrent scanning. Performs data collection, reports and trending to address any concerns with loose documents, expired forms, units/departments that may be behind schedule with scanning, etc. The supervisor will manage and resolve issues remotely and/or travel onsite to specified facilities. Ensures chart/documentation retention is maintained according to policies. HIM Supervisor will also oversee day to day operations of Birth Registration for all STHS facilitiesST. HIM Supervisor will ensure all births are transmitted within the 5 days to ensure compliance with the State. This individual provides services while maintaining the highest level of customer service and commitment to the Service Excellence Program.
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. 1 to 2 years in a lead or supervisory role.
2. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
3. Able to work under pressure to meet timelines.
4. Able to travel to different STHS facilities as required.
EDUCATION / LICENSURE:
1. Associates Degree in health information management or healthcare related field or other displinary degree.
2. RHIT preferred.
3. Able to travel amongst various facilities.
