POSITION SUMMARY: Supports the commercial lending process by working independently to evaluate the financial condition of new and existing commercial credit relationships. Provides in-depth, high quality credit analyses and appraisal reviews in accordance with the Banks commercial loan policies, assuring regulatory compliance, accurately assessing loan risk and promoting effective credit extension decision-making.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Performs a systematic review of loan application files to determine adequacy of documentation provided. Reports examination results to the appropriate loan officer and follows-up to ensure timely resolution of any deficiencies.
- Performs comprehensive financial statement spreading using Web Equity software tools, including an in-depth review of balance sheets, profit and loss statements, tax returns, credit reports, net worth statements and other appropriate data either presented by credit applicants or researched independently.
- Reviews and analyzes evaluations and appraisals of real estate and other property used as collateral to secure loans.
- Assesses liquidity, management quality, market position and overall business climate and related trends to forecast future viability of a business.
- Prepares and generates credit risk reports and presentations for senior management, summarizing interpretive results of credit analyses.
- Grades credit as part of loan pricing policy to insure consistency and conformity.
- Underwrites credits for commercial lending officers, confirming that credits meet compliance and regulatory laws as well as internal loan policies.
- Maintains current knowledge of all bank loan policies and applicable regulations affecting the Banks credit practices.
- Monitors regulation compliance and exceptions to policy and assists in the accurate collection and reporting of compliance data.
- Recommends changes to credit policies and procedures as appropriate and contributes ideas toward improving the overall credit administration function.
- Provides helpful support to the lending team in all stages of the loan cycle.
- Works with vendors and clients in a professional manner to assure service excellence.
- Protects the confidentiality of information that flows through the department.
- Recommends and assists in providing appropriate training to other personnel.
- Assists in other areas related to the credit administration function and performs other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor-level degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or Business Management, or alternatively, significant commensurate experience, education and training.
- 2 years of experience in commercial underwriting or credit analysis for a community bank.
- A strong understanding of financial documents.
- Strong mathematical, analytical and communication skills.
- Strong business writing, presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Advanced computer skills including Word, Excel and Outlook, and the ability to quickly adapt to other specialized software applications.
- Good familiarity with the internet as a research tool.
- Ability to work productively and independently with minimal supervisory overview.
- High degree of organizational and multi-tasking ability, with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to recognize issues of significance and prioritize assignments.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Typical office environment. Requires ability to operate numerous types of office equipment such as computers, keyboards, printers, scanners, fax machines, copiers and calculators. Significant time spent reading paper documents and computer screens. Primarily a sedentary position but requires occasional standing, walking, lifting, carrying, bending, kneeling, stretching and stooping.

PAY RANGE & BENEFITS INFORMATION:
- This is a salaried, exempt position with an expected pay range of $50,000 - $70,000 depending on experience.
