JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for coding Ancillary, Reference and/or Clinic records for completion of ICD-10-CM, CPT and
HCPCS level III codes. Reviews charge source documents and orders for completion. Enters codes through system encoder or EHR system. Completes charge review and reconciliation as needed. Communicates with clinics or departments for completion of orders or documentation. Communicates with the Edits Coordinator on edits that need added or changed. Assist the Coding Supervisor with other duties for editing, audits etc. as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Certified coder with CCA, CCS-P from AHIMA OR CPC-A, CPC from AAPC in active status.

Minimum 1-year professional coding, strongly desired.

Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT Classification systems, professional coding, and billing rules.

Strong knowledge of Medical and Surgical Terminology.

E/M coding experience preferred.

Previous experience and knowledge of clinic EMR, strongly desired.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.

Excellent interpersonal skills with strong written and verbal communication.

Ability to work independently while understanding the need to communicate and coordinate work efforts with other employees at other locations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
-
Manual dexterity sufficient to operate keyboard, calculator, and other office equipment, as necessary.

Able to sit for extended periods of time.

Demonstrates adequate vision, or correctable with glasses/contacts, for reading and using computer screens for long periods of time. Must be able to distinguish colors or symbols used by encoder and other resources.

Must have adequate perception of sounds or adequate hearing with corrections.

Demonstrates adequate stamina to deal with stressful situations and complete work schedule.
