We are pleased to offer Extern positions for nursing students who have finished their first year in an RN program. An Externship is also a great way to learn about Stillwater Medical and what it is like to be a part of our culture of quality and compassionate nursing care.
THE DETAILS:
- This position is temporary, working 36 hours/week for a 6 week period during the summer.
- You will work the schedule of your preceptor and may be on either day shift or night shift.
- After the summer, you will be moved to PRN status with a commitment to work one 12 hour shift each month.

JOB SUMMARY:
RN student nurse who, under supervision of preceptor, acquires practical knowledge and designated skills in order to prepare for transition from student to graduate nurse.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum age of 18 years.

Must have successfully completed first year of clinical rotation at an accredited school of nursing.

Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Ability to function in stressful situations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must have strength and stamina for prolonged walking and standing.

Demonstrates adequate vision, or correctable with glasses/contacts, to read and write.

Able to hear, or correctable with hearing devices, and able to talk to converse with others in person and over the phone.

Able to hear, see, and feel to accurately assess, monitor, and administer care.

Able to frequently lift at least 60 lbs., reach, pull, push, bend, stoop, and kneel.

Possess fine motor skills and hand/eye coordination to give care (i.e.: finger stick blood sugars, vital signs, feed patients, and handle instruments).

Able to work in latex-burdened environment.
