As a Charge Nurse you will oversee and manage patient care on the assigned unit. The RN Charge Nurse will be responsible for supervising nursing staff, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. The Charge Nurse will collaborate with the healthcare team to manage patient care, handle emergencies, and provide leadership to the nursing staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and direct nursing staff (RNs, LVNs, and CNAs) during shifts, ensuring adequate staffing and high-quality patient care.
- Manage and coordinate patient care activities, ensuring the delivery of personalized and compassionate care.
- Conduct patient assessments, develop care plans, and monitor patient progress throughout their stay.
- Provide leadership and guidance to nursing staff, offering mentorship and support to ensure best practices.
- Monitor the implementation of treatment plans and adjust as necessary based on patient progress or changes in condition.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, facility policies, and best practices.
- Respond promptly to patient needs and concerns, ensuring timely interventions for optimal care.
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop comprehensive care plans for patients.
- Perform wound care, administer medications, and provide treatments according to the physician’s orders.
- Manage and document patient assessments, treatments, and responses in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Act as the point of contact for families, providing updates and addressing concerns in a compassionate manner.
- Assist with staff training, development, and performance evaluations.
- Ensure that infection control and safety standards are consistently met.
- Assist with admissions, discharges, and transfers of patients, coordinating efforts between departments.
- Handle emergency situations efficiently and take appropriate actions when necessary.
Qualifications:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in [State].
- Valid CPR/BLS certification.
- Previous charge nurse or supervisory experience preferred.
