What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Manager position at Stillwater Sciences?
Stillwater Sciences seeks a highly motivated senior-level program/project manager based out of our Portland office. This individual will serve as a deeply integrated member of our company-wide Senior Leadership Team and should have strong technical skills in physical sciences, terrestrial ecology, or fisheries/aquatic biology. An ideal candidate should have considerable experience in consulting and experience managing Federal contracts, as well as possess a strong industry network. Start date in April-May 2025.
The Senior Manager will be responsible for:
· Leading and managing high value ($500K-$2M), complex, multi-year, multi-disciplinary projects.
· Leveraging current client relationships to generate repeat business and add-on work.
· Developing strong relationships with clients to sell work.
· Representing Stillwater in project team meetings and public forums on technical and resource management issues.
· Initiating and training staff to complete high qualify field efforts and analyses.
· Providing final technical/editorial review of deliverables.
· Preparing environmental compliance documents (e.g., NEPA, ESA, FERC).
· Proposal preparation, positioning, marketing, and project and client management.
· Serving as a mentor for junior staff.
The ideal candidates will possess:
· MS or PhD in Geology, Engineering, Hydrology, Fisheries Biology, Aquatic Ecology, Terrestrial Ecology, or related field with 15–20 years of experience in the environmental field.
· Demonstrated excellence with writing and verbal communications.
· Experience with conducting data management and analysis and presenting to diverse stakeholder groups.
· Experience preparing complex regulatory compliance documents and developing permitting strategies for local, state, and Federal permits.
· Proven ability to work well with collaborative project teams and diverse stakeholders.
· Some experience with the following: geomorphic principles, hydrological measurements, stream channel and substrate assessment, instream flow studies, river restoration, and/or water quality metrics and measurements.
· Environmental consulting and project management experience.
· Willingness to periodically travel and work long hours in the field or office to meet project needs.
· Valid Driver’s license in good standing.
Compensation and Application Details:
· Full-time position in Portland, OR.
· Stillwater Sciences provides a competitive compensation package including a 401(k) plan, full health and dental care and an Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP) after entry criteria are met.
· Annual salary $104,000-$150,800; commensurate with qualifications and experience.
· Out-of-town work required (field work, meetings, and conferences).
· Hybrid schedule with minimum of 24 hours/3 days a week in the office- candidates not located in Portland but willing to travel to the office monthly will be considered.
