What are the responsibilities and job description for the Theatre Teacher position at STILWELL SCHOOL OF THE ARTS?
POSITION SUMMARY:
To provide instruction for students that enables them to learn and achieve to the maximum of their abilities. This position reports to the Director of the Principal.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Instructs and evaluates student progress in acting principles, technique, character development, verbal articulation, speech diction, and dialect.
Provides a safe physical environment for students through observance of guidelines for technical theater safety.
Manages budget for all production needs, oversees production timeline, orders, stores, and provides inventory of all production and classroom material.
Auditions, casts, rehearses, produces, and directs productions approved by building administrator.
Maintains prompt and professional communication with parents.
All other duties, as assigned and required, in order to perform the above services.
KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Speech/Theatre or Drama, Education, or related field required related to grade level and content area.
Minimum of one (1) year of teaching experience preferred.
Makes recommendations or decisions which usually affect the entire department/school.
Must hold or be eligible for GaPSC Certification at Level 4 or higher in Secondary ELA and/or Drama.
Varied; supervisor is available to review established broad objectives; independent judgment is required.
Requires regular, frequent contact with internal personnel of influence (i.e. school administrative personnel, Fine Arts Director, etc.)
Requires regular, frequent contact with external personnel of influence (i.e. external agencies, parents, community, etc.)
Excellent classroom management required. Written and oral communication; instructional strategies that connect the curriculum to the learners, student management.
Applies, recommends, and implements technology to improve the effectiveness of school operations.
Responsibility for the Welfare of Others: Constantly (Daily)
Normal school/classroom and theater setting.
Must be able to stand and walk. May be required to work a flexible schedule to include late evening and weekend duties.
Light duty - On most occasions sitting at a desk or table; intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping. Moderate lifting or carrying; fifty (50) lbs. or less. Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities.
