Benefit Coordinator

The Benefit Coordinator wears a lot of hats— everything from benefits and payroll, to keeping the employee engagement vibes high and stepping in whenever operations need a little extra love. It's a mix of admin magic and HR wizardry!

About Stinker

Founded in 1936, Stinker is everyone's first choice for work, convenience, food, family and fun! Located across Idaho, Colorado and Wyoming, Stinker is a family-owned, people-focused, convenience leader. Led by our Skunktastik Mascot Polecat Pete, Stinker's purpose is to make our world a better place by being a bright spot in the lives we touch- one employee, one customer and one community at a time. We also don't take ourselves too seriously, I mean come on… we have a skunk as a mascot, we look for opportunities to have fun each day and ensure we make decisions that put our people first. If we can't have fun doin' it, then we're doin' it wrong!

So, what does any of that have to do with you as a future member of Pete's Posse? It means that you are stepping into a people-oriented company that is growing, provides diverse opportunities, and cares about being a bright spot in the community! When you join forces with Stinker, not only do you get to join a Stinkin' awesome team, but you also open the door to endless possibilities. With a culture that makes our employees feel valued and a part of something bigger- this job stinks of success, and so can you!

What You'll Do

  • Be the mastermind behind employee benefits like medical, dental, vision, 401k profit sharing, and PTO. Because who doesn't love perks?
  • Run the annual benefits orientation and monthly enrollments like a pro, making sure all info is up-to-date and accurate- because who likes surprises when it comes to benefits (spoiler: no one)?
  • Administer the COBRA program with care, ensuring there are no unexpected plot twists when benefits need to continue after life changes.
  • Verify dependents for benefits enrollment (because family is important, but enrollments only apply if they're your dependents).
  • Solve problems with carriers like a benefits detective by verifying those monthly premium statements for all group insurance policies and keeping track of data like a stats pro.
  • Help with benefits reports and audits (crunching numbers and crossing T's – because, hey, it's all about that HR finesse.
  • Assists with coordination and planning for employee engagement activities within the company.
  • Assist in developing and administering the company's Wellness program, because a healthy team is a happy team!
  • Save the day with HelpDesk support, resolving tickets quicker than you can say “open enrollment”.
  • Complete forms like a paperwork professional (earnings verification, Colorado separations, garnishments... you get the drift).
  • Inactivate direct deposit, garnishments, and 401k loans (making sure the money trail stays clean and tidy).
  • Be Payroll's right hand, making sure everyone gets paid without drama (because nothing says "HR hero" like a timely paycheck).
  • Perform additional duties as assigned; let's face it, no day is the same in HR, and you've gotta be ready to tackle whatever's next!

What You'll Need

  • Be an HR dictionary – you know the lingo well enough that you could teach a class on "How to Speak HR without Looking Confused".
  • You can handle writing an email, chatting with coworkers and outside representatives, or making phone calls with style (and mostly no awkwardness- it happens to the best of us).
  • Effective time management and attention to detail in a deadline driven environment- there are a lot of moving pieces and skunks headed in every direction!
  • Strong interpersonal skills, Able to work effectively with all levels in the organization.
  • Able to handle tasks with minimal handholding and know how to collaborate with others to get things done.
  • Ability to make quick decisions and keep management in the loop, while rolling with the punches to keep projects on track and escalating any issues to leadership when necessary.
  • Dependable, reliable, flexible, quick – you're like a Swiss army knife but with patience and a smile, always ready to adapt and roll with the punches.
  • Maintain confidentiality better than Grandma guards her cookie recipe from the neighbors.
