Heavy Machine Operator/Laborer

Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Heavy Machine Operator to join our team. We are currently working in Asheville, NC doing cleanup from Helene. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining various types of machinery in a fast-paced environment. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to work collaboratively. The Heavy Machine Operator will ensure that goals are met while adhering to safety standards and quality control measures.

Duties

• Operate and monitor machinery, including excavators, doziers and skid steers, ensuring optimal performance.
• Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on machines to minimize downtime.
• Utilize hand tools and mechanical knowledge to assist in the setup and adjustment of machinery.
• Handle machinery safely, adhering to all safety protocols.
• Work out of town as needed during the week, home for most weekends.
• Loading and unloading equipment from vehicles used to transport it
• Inspecting equipment before and after use to ensure it’s in good working order
• Driving or controlling heavy equipment to complete tasks at the construction site
• Monitoring performance and adjusting settings as required to perform tasks correctly.

Skills

• Knowledge of heavy machinery operation and safety regulations.
• Ability to troubleshoot machinery issues effectively and efficiently.
• Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality control.
• Knowledge of safety protocols and the procedures used to control heavy equipment
• Coordination to use all the controls on pieces of equipment
• Possessing enough strength to operate the controls on heavy equipment
• Ability to remain stationary in the seat or operating area of the equipment for prolonged periods
• Problem-solving skills to diagnose issues with equipment
• Strong oral communication skills to interact with other workers on the jobsite
• Basic writing skills to accurately complete reports and other paperwork

Job Types: Full-time, Temporary

Pay: From $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 – 50 per week

Schedule:

• Monday to Friday
• Weekends as needed
