Program Context: Stockton Service Corps (SSC) is a place-based initiative dedicated to working with community partners to deliver high-impact services to Stockton and create a pathway for community leadership through service. By increasing skilled talent and human capital annually, SSC ensures evidence-based programming that addresses the city’s most pressing needs. Rooted in community impact, SSC focuses on three key initiatives: climate action, cradle-to-career support, and social justice.
SSC has served over 5,000 students in its first year and collaborated with six AmeriCorps programs. Our Service Fellows are key pillars to our Stockton community, in which they play a unique role in connecting Stockton residents to resources. They act as mentors, tutors, community organizers, academic advisors, and coaches. Notably, they serve with compassion, love, and care with an understanding that they face similar experiences. Our Service Fellows serve in one of the AmeriCorps programs operating in Stockton. Position Description: Stockton Service Corps (SSC) is seeking individuals eager to serve the community and explore new career paths. As an SSC Service Fellow, you'll work within one of the initiatives below that align with your interests to help build a better future for Stockton.
🎓 Cradle-to-Career (Full time and part-time hours)
- Mentor & tutor local youth
- Lead classroom workshops for youth
- Life coaching for youth program
⚖ Social Justice (Part-time hours)
- Support formerly incarcerated juveniles/Foster youth
- Provide job resources & record expungement services
- Help with resume building & education advancement
🌿 Climate Action (Full-time hours)
- Educate communities on sustainability
- Engage in urban greening & wildfire resiliency
- Support edible food recovery projects
Benefits/Compensation:
- Educational Award: $6,000 - $10,000
- Bi-weekly Living allowance: $16/hr-$19/hr
- Student loan forbearance
- Professional development training
Terms of Fellowship
- Part-time and Full-time roles available
Minimum Requirements
- HS/Diploma or GED equivalent
- Ability to commit to a 9 AM start time
