Brief Job Overview/Summary

Stockton University, Division of Student Affairs seeks a Coordinator to support its goal to promote equitable access, academic achievement, and post-graduate success.

Reporting to the Director of Student Transition Programs, the Coordinator will serve as a member of the STAR (Student Transitions, Access and Retention) Team, in partnership with the offices of Academic Achievement Programs, Career Education and Development, Military and Veterans Services, Educational Opportunity Fund Program (EOF) and other campus partners to enhance academic excellence and post-graduate success through integrated student success services and educational programs in addition to supporting the onboarding experience to the EAB Ospreys Navigate software to support student success initiatives.

The Coordinator will support the division’s strategies to provide students with access to robust, comprehensive student orientation, transition, and retention programs, services, and high impact practice learning opportunities from matriculation through graduation.

Descriptions of Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the alignment of office staff and service operations with division and university priorities and national best practices. Implement strategies to ensure that services and programs meet the needs of diverse student communities (e.g., racially minoritized communities, LGBTQ , first-generation, non-traditional, military-affiliated, etc.)
  • Develop and recommend strategies and programs in collaboration with campus partners that meet the specific transitional and retention needs of sophomores, juniors, seniors and emerging student communities at the University, with a focus on increasing career readiness among respective groups
  • Assist with planning, implementation, communication, onboarding and outreach efforts related to new student orientation, welcome programs, extension of programs related to spirit days, EAB Ospreys Navigate Student Success software, and academic year programming in collaboration with campus partners (i.e. University Relations and Marketing, Academic Affairs, Enrollment Management, Residential Life, Student Affairs, Athletic Intramurals and Recreation, etc.)
  • Serve as the EAB Ospreys Navigate specialist to Stockton University new students supporting with onboarding, troubleshooting inquiries, and coordinating EAB related communication, meetings, and trainings for Transition Activity Leaders of New Students (TALONS):

a. Assists with implementing/testing new updates, and triage issues and requests related to new students and TALONS
b. Gather relevant data for reports/presentations to support and prepare the Director
c. Support communications (i.e. emails, webpage, social media, etc.), and training to end users (i.e., TALONS, and new students
d. Support with onboarding new users (i.e., new students, and TALONS), updating current users on new features and access, and performing security audits

  • Assist with strategic planning, budgeting, and purchasing, including the execution of contracts and paperwork associated with Student Transition Programs
  • Manage budget and payroll associated with the Cultural Engagement Ospreys (CEO) Project, the CEO Interns, and the Inclusive Leadership Conference
  • Develop and assess learning outcomes, prepare reports and presentations, and manage program operations (i.e., scheduling meetings, reserving rooms, etc.) associated with transition programs utilizing resources including Anthology Baseline and the office of Institutional Research
  • Recruit, hire, onboard, train, and supervise staff (i.e. TALONS, Federal work study, graduate assistants, interns, part time staff); manage student staff hours and timesheets
  • Aid in organizing family orientation, the family newsletter, and integrating family engagement into existing campus programs
  • Support the TALONS course titled Inclusive Student Transitions. Co-advise the Alpha Lambda Delta National Honor Society with the Director of Student Transition Programs
  • Plan, organize, coordinate, and review the services, activities, and operations of the First-Year Experience (FYE) program; perform a full range of administrative, programmatic, and technical duties in support of the program; coordinate assigned functions, activities, and services of the FYE program including overseeing and participating in providing students, staff, and others with specialized information, training, and assistance
  • Collaborate with retention initiatives to provide services and programs (i.e., healing circles, banquets, summits, panels, resource fairs, Activate & Motivate Pride, recognition ceremonies etc.). Support Stockton University's diversity commitment and student-centered vision and mission by working to close equity and opportunity gaps for students of diverse race, age, gender, first-gen identity, and socio-economic status
  • Collaborate with campus partners to expand student access and participation in high-impact learning experiences (e.g., service-learning and community engagement, internships, research, study abroad etc.) throughout the student lifecycle
  • Represent the Director of Student Transition Programs in their absence at campus wide programs, meetings, and committees
  • Work evenings and weekends, as needed, in support of campus events and programs
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in higher education, or related field from an accredited college
  • Two years of professional experience working with students in a higher education environment

NOTE: Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute required experience on a year-for-year basis (30 credit hours is considered one year of college.) A Ph.D. or an Ed.D. degree may be substituted for two years of the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in higher education, or related field from an accredited institution
  • Experience facilitating opportunities for students to access high impact practice opportunities
  • Experience implementing retention and student success services for BIPOC, first-generation, low- income students, adult learners, etc. in a college/university setting
  • Experience developing student leaders
  • Experience with Anthology Baseline Assessment tool
  • Experience utilizing student information systems (e.g., EAB, Banner, Slate, etc.).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience in a functional area(s) that supports the orientation, transition, and retention of diverse students and families
  • Experience with budgets
