Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Interpreter for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Students to join our team at Stokes County School District. As an interpreter, you will play a vital role in ensuring that students who are deaf or hard of hearing receive equal access to education through sign language interpretation.

The successful candidate will have strong sign language skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with students, teachers, and other school staff. You will also be responsible for developing and implementing sign language programs for students and staff, and providing feedback to teachers upon request.

This is a full-time position with benefits. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years of experience in sign language interpretation, a strong understanding of language development, and excellent interpersonal skills. Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement sign language programs for students and staff
  • Communicate effectively with students, teachers, and other school staff
  • Provide feedback to teachers upon request
  • Maintain records of sign language programs and services provided

Requirements
  • Associate's degree in Educational Interpreting or a related field from an accredited program
  • Passing score of 3.3 or higher on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment
  • Minimum of two years of experience in sign language interpretation
