What are the responsibilities and job description for the FSA Loan Assistant position at Stone Bank?
JOB SUMMARY: The FSA loan assistant will provide administrative and clerical support to the loan department. This position will be responsible for the preparation of commercial, Agri, and real estate loan documentation. This position will support the loan officer by compiling loan application information, respond to customer inquiries, obtain information required to complete loan files, and other duties as assigned.
FSA PROGRAM PURPOSE: The FSA program enables lenders to extend credit to family farm owners or operators. This program benefits beginning farmers, family farmers, lending institutions and the local community.
OTHER ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain compliance with FSA Handbook – USDA Guaranteed Loan Making and Servicing
- Maintain regulations governing the Guaranteed Farm Loan Program
- Comply with Stone Bank’s FSA Policy and Procedures
- Comply with the processing and servicing of FSA-guaranteed loan
- Review newly prepared loan documentation for compliance with bank policy
- Maintains communication between loan officer, client, FSA office, and title companies to assist in the timely manner of processing and closing of loan files
- May research and gather information or documentation on loan files where exceptions exist
- Builds and maintains customer loan files
- Obtains and reviews necessary closing documents from outside vendors
- Process loan payments, draw request, payoffs and prepare release documents
- Ensure closing conditions are met, and loans are closed within the appropriate time frames
- Data entry and upload loans into the Core system of the Bank
- Review HUD Settlement Statements for accuracy and approval
- File UCC’s with the Secretary of State and pull and review lien searches
- Pull credit reports
- Answer phones as needed for loan department
- Guides customers through the closing process
- Prepare early disclosures as needed
- Prepare credit life forms and work with insurance company to calculate rebates when loans payoff
SKILLS:
- Computer skills, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to demonstrate compliance with all banking regulations.
- Must be able to keep up to date on regulatory changes as well as the bank’s loan policy and lending procedures
- Strong customer service skills
- Demonstrate a high level of organization, attention to detail, accuracy, thoroughness, problem solving skills
- Ability to complete work in a timely manner and perform in a fast paced, high production environment
- Self-motivated with the ability to recognize and prioritize tasks that need to be done
- Ability to multi- task
- Ability to work well under pressure and with deadlines
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Banking or FSA/USDA or SBA experience is a plus
- Previous loan processing experience is preferred
