Location : Tarrytown, NY Schedule : Hybrid Schedule : Monday-Friday, that may occasionally include a weekend and / or evening
The Senior Accounting Coordinator , reporting to the Senior Finance Manager ,will be responsible for the daily operations of the finance department, monitoring and analyzing accounting data and producing financial statements. The department consists of the Senior Finance Manager, the Farm Operations Manager, and third party support. A financial accounting background and the ability to handle a full and diverse workload that spans basic accounting work to complex reconciliations, all with precision and attention to detail is essential for this position. The person in this role will assist in advancing the operational effectiveness and efficiency of the department. Additionally, they must ensure accurate and timely recording and submission of financial data, and provide analysis of data and research. A background in non-profit accounting and operations is a plus.
Responsibilities :
- Record and track revenue from multiple sources, ensuring timely and precise entries into accounting system
- Conduct comprehensive monthly reconciliations, including bank reconciliation, investment schedule and sales tax
- Prepare and record journal entries for monthly accruals, prepaid expenses and other adjustments
- Assist the development team in preparing detailed project budgets for grant applications
- Support grant reporting by preparing financial documentation for reporting purposes
- Maintain and update fixed asset schedules by tracking acquisitions, disposals, and transfers
- Review and process payroll through Paychex, ensuring hours and labor are correctly reflected for approval
- Assist in the preparation and execution of year-end close process
- Generating reports on accounts receivable & payable status for management review
- Ensure that all financial records are accurately maintained and easily accessible for review and reporting
- Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger by ensuring all financial transactions are properly recorded and classified
- Assist With budgeting and forecasting processes as needed
- Support yearly internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation, schedules, and explanations.
- Assist with various administrative tasks, such as filing documents, managing accounting inbox, ordering supplies and supporting other team members as needed
- Adhere to financial regulations and company policies, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and standard
