Position Title: Production Lead (former referred to as Production Foreman)

Reports To: Production Supervisor

Job Summary:
The Production Lead will oversee the daily production operations of a small commercial bakery, ensuring the smooth production of high-quality baked goods. This role is responsible for overseeing a team of production staff, ensuring that bakery items are produced efficiently, safely, and in accordance with company quality standards. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills in all areas of bakery production and machinery use, effective communication skills with team members and leadership, provide effective oversight of team members, a passion for baking, and experience in food production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily team functions, as a working team member, and provide guidance and support to ensure efficient workflows.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, hygiene standards, and quality control procedures.
- Monitor inventory levels of ingredients, supplies, and equipment, and place orders as needed to prevent shortages.
- Conduct quality checks on products and processes to ensure consistency and meet company standards.
- Provide training to team members to maintain high performance and a positive work environment.
- Troubleshoot production issues and work with the team to resolve problems in a timely manner.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe workspaces by enhancing company cleanliness and safety protocols.
- Provide daily feedback to the Production Supervisor on team and equipment performance, including production issues, team member performance, and process effectiveness.
Qualifications & Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent (culinary school or bakery management courses beneficial).
- At least 1-year proven experience in all general bakery production areas and equipment operation.
- Must undergo training in SQF Code 9 in all Bakery Generalist requirements, Advance Safety Protocols, Leadership and Supervision Techniques, Advance Quality Assurance Procedures and Machinery and Equipment Overview
- Excellent communication skills; fluent in English and Spanish preferred to effectively communicate with team members and team leadership.
- Highly organized and ability to manage many tasks in a quick-paced environment.
- Ability to work well with diverse teams.
- Familiarity with food safety standards and health regulations in a bakery setting.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining product quality, team cohesiveness and safe and sanitary working conditions.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy items, and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective problem-solving skills and ability to make correct decisions quickly.
