Brygga Plates & Pours is seeking a dedicated and customer-focused Restaurant Server to join our team for the 2025 summer season. As a server at Brygga Plates & Pours, you will be the face of our brand, delivering an exceptional dining experience to our guests with an emphasis on hospitality, quality service, and attention to detail. We are looking for individuals who are enthusiastic, personable, and well-versed in the principles of excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Customer Service: Greet guests warmly, provide menus, and explain daily specials and restaurant offerings. Take food and beverage orders accurately and promptly, ensuring that all special requests or dietary restrictions are communicated to the kitchen.
- Order Accuracy: Relay all orders to kitchen staff and ensure they are prepared according to the guest’s preferences. Double-check that orders are correctly presented to customers.
- Food and Beverage Knowledge: Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the menu, including all food, drinks, and dessert options. Be able to answer any questions guests may have regarding ingredients, preparation, and food pairing.
- Timely Service: Serve food and drinks promptly, ensuring that all items are presented beautifully and at the appropriate temperature. Monitor tables to ensure guests’ needs are met without delay.
- Communication: Coordinate with other team members, including bussers, kitchen staff, and management, to ensure seamless service and resolve any issues that may arise.
- Upselling: Suggest additional menu items (e.g., appetizers, drinks, desserts) to enhance the guest’s experience and increase sales.
- Guest Experience: Ensure guests feel welcomed, valued, and comfortable at all times. Address any concerns or complaints promptly and professionally to ensure a positive dining experience.
- Cash Handling: Accurately handle payments, including cash, credit, and debit transactions, and process bills in a timely manner. Maintain proper cash control procedures.
- Cleaning & Maintenance: Keep workstations, dining areas, and beverage stations clean and organized throughout shifts. Follow all health and safety guidelines regarding cleanliness and food handling.
- Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with fellow servers, kitchen staff, and management to create a smooth and efficient work environment. Assist in training new staff as needed.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a server or in a similar customer-facing role, ideally within the hospitality or restaurant industry.
- Strong knowledge of customer service best practices and the ability to maintain a professional demeanor in all situations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with diverse clientele.
- Ability to multitask efficiently and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of restaurant operations, including handling payments and using point-of-sale (POS) systems (TOAST).
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy trays or objects (up to 25 lbs).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with the local dining scene and trends.
- Experience with fine dining or high-volume restaurant service.
- Previous experience with wine, beer, and cocktail service (preferred but not required).
