The Gates Attendant operates the gates at Stone Mountain Park to include selling parking permits, enforcing SMP regulations regarding application of permits and admission to the park, and providing general information and supplies such as maps/informational brochures to guests. Essential Duties And Responsibilities

- Smile and treat guests with friendliness and respect
- Collect money and provide customers with correct change
- Balance cash, record money and tickets sold during shift
- Approve passage through the gate or sell permit before entry
- Distribute SMP literature and information to guests upon entry
- Answer requests for information and directions in the Park and surrounding areas
- Secure and control the operating money and collection of it from the sale of permits
- Report necessary gate house repairs to Gates Lead
- Perform functions of radio and telephone operator as needed
- Coordinate information from the Daily Adventure Plan on the opening and closing of specific Attractions
- Assist with the training of new gate personnel
- Maintain a clean work environment
- Assist in stuffing fliers in park maps as needed for park events
- Resolve guest problems and concerns in a friendly and professional manner
- Assist in other areas of the department such as Ticket Plaza and Guest Services
- This position requires the employee to receive credit card information, make deposits, and initiate a refund
- PCI certification must be obtained within the first 30 days of employment
- All other duties as assigned

- Must understand, read, write and speak the English language
- Must be at least 16 years old
- Must be able to maintain a good working relationship with coworkers
- Must be able to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Must have excellent communication skills and sense of appropriateness to converse with employees and guests
- Must be able to responsibly handle large sums of money
- Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure
- Must be able to stand for 8 hours
- Some high school education; or one month related Customer Service experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
- Previous cash handling experience preferred
