Job Summary
The CAD Technician is responsible for the accurate creation and maintenance of engineering models and drawings for StoneAge Inc. This role supports product development, new product introduction, and standardization of formats, styles, and processes across the Engineering department.
Essential Functions
Engineering Drawings & Modeling
  • Create and maintain CAD models, component drawings, and assembly models following internal and external design standards.
  • Implement engineering changes to components and assemblies as required by Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
  • Support engineers in researching Engineering Change Requests (ECRs).
  • Ensure consistency and upkeep of CAD model libraries.
  • Adhere to and maintain drawing standards per StoneAge and industry best practices.
  • Perform drawing reviews for technical accuracy, tolerance analysis, and GD&T implementation.
  • Conduct and document tolerance stack-up analysis.
  • Own and maintain Best Practices documentation for CAD standards.
Departmental Support
  • Collaborate with engineers to understand design intent and develop accurate drawings.
  • Assist in formatting and tolerancing to maintain drawing consistency.
  • Support the Engineering team in applying Best Practices documentation.
  • Work with production coordination to submit drawings to the machine shop.
  • Partner with the Technical Writer to create and maintain SolidWorks models/assemblies for product manuals.
  • Address drawing clarification requests from in-house manufacturing, quality, assembly, and external suppliers.
  • Review internal and vendor-requested design changes before ECO implementation.
General Support
  • Participate in standups, meetings, and design reviews for product development.
  • Meet project deadlines throughout the development cycle.
  • Communicate project status and workload to the Engineering team in real time.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Engineering Manager.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks (or similar 3D modeling software) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software preferred.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing and inspection methods is desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement in processes and job performance.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Additional Information
  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • Programming experience (C , Python, LabVIEW, MATLAB) is a plus but not required.
  • Extended working hours may be necessary during peak times.
  • Must be able to lift heavy loads using proper techniques per company guidelines.
  • Compliance with all safety protocols outlined in the StoneAge Safety Handbook is required.
  • Familiarity with waterblasting safety standards and protocols is preferred.
