Job Title: Academic Coach (school year 12 days start 8/1)
Reports To: School Director Salary range - $70,000-$85,000
Job summary: Ensure students receive high quality, relevant instruction that takes place in a challenging and positive learning environment. Provides observations, demonstrations lessons with coaching and participating in the formal evaluation process.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Instruction and Curriculum
- Assist teaching staff in the implementation of school curriculum which includes walk throughs, co-teaching and modeling lessons.
- Promotes student-centered mastery-based teaching with use of data; assisting teachers with implementing instructional strategies and interventions based on data.
- Demonstrate knowledge of and coach on research-based instructional strategies and curricula that engage all students and result in increased student performance.
- Identify and assist staff in implementing a variety of assessment tools.
- Assist with the curriculum committee in the revision and integration of school curriculum and academic activities making recommendations for all grade levels.
- Participate in the ILT (Instructional Leadership Team) to improve school performance with support from state advocate from Brightworks.
- Develop/revise lesson plan format and review teacher submitted lessons weekly.
- Develop and maintain inventory of curriculum materials.
- Design and implement gifted and talented support as well as other advanced academic opportunities to challenge high achieving students.
- Work with SPED and ESL staff to coordinate curriculum and instruction for SPED and ELL.
- Evaluate academic achievement through detailed data analysis of student performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Ensure teachers and staff understand assessment process, data and achievement results.
- Internal Reading Corps Coach. Attend all training and meetings related to Reading Corps completing all administrative duties and provide ongoing support to on-site volunteer.
2. Human Resources and Personnel Management
- Assist with recruiting, interviewing, and selecting outstanding faculty members to ensure academic goals are achieved.
- Participate in the development and implementation of annual teacher evaluation process, scheduling and maintenance of all records.
- Provide teacher evaluations using TAP rubric and pre and post conferences.
- Listen to, evaluate, and respond in a timely manner to concerns that are expressed by teachers, staff, and stakeholders.
- Assign and monitor mentor teachers providing bi-monthly meetings to track mentor program and progress.
- Collect time off requests and day of calls. Request subs and maintain sub folders for all teachers. Ensure transfer of information to HR
- Meeting bi-monthly with school director to review program and progress.
3. Financial Management
- Work with School Director to develop budgets related to curriculum, academic materials, assessment, and professional development.
4. Professional Development
- Participate in weekly teacher PLC meetings and provide any follow up coaching.
- In conjunction with school director plan, develop and deliver all school wide professional development throughout the year, including new teacher training and back to school PD.
- Work with special education to determine PD needs of paraprofessionals.
- Work with reading interventionist to ensure all read act training is completed/implemented and math interventionist to develop best practice math PD for teachers.
6. Community Relationships and School Involvement
- Promote a strong partner focused school community with families.
- Attend all school parent functions (including evening events).
- Participate and attend all staff meeting and designated school committee (curriculum chair, ILT, ALT).
- Perform duties related to bus arrival and dismissal as needed, including job assignments and late bus schedule.
- Assist with discipline/walkie and cafeteria support as needed.
- Support a positive school climate in which students, families, and staff are partners.
- Attend school leadership meetings to enhance academic performance.
- Meet and work with state advocate to enhance academic performance.

Qualifications:
- Master's degree in education and 5 years' teaching experience.
- Hold a current Minnesota teaching license.
- Ability to communicate effectively in large and small groups.
- Knowledge of curriculum and best practice instructional strategies.
- Ability to prioritize, organize, and complete paperwork on time.
- Ability to problem solve and ]\establish positive working relationships schoolwide.
- Experience with computers and knowledge of school software.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $43,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
