What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Caretaker Assistant position at Stonehavens Global?
Properties on Mount Desert Island are seeking a hard-working, energetic individual to help complete their team for the 2025 season. The Caretaker Assistant has a wide range of duties inside and outside the house - from pet care, to overseeing the family and company vehicles, to performing groundskeeping tasks. This is a person that can pivot quickly depending on the needs of the organization from day-to-day. This is a full time, seasonal position running from April through November. A shorter season from May 1 to September 1 may be considered for the right candidate. This is a small organization - a positive attitude and good work ethic is essential.
PRIMARY DUTIES
- Oversee family and company vehicle fleet including cleaning of interior/exterior and fueling
- Care for family pets including daily walk/exercise and feeding
- Perform weekly (1x/week minimum) dog bathing/grooming
- Participate in grounds maintenance; weeding, watering, grooming, planting, mowing, trimming, raking, and leaf blowing
- Replenish house-hold firewood as needed, work with staff to determine schedule
- Clean exterior granite, railings and furniture as needed
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES MIGHT INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO
- Assist with events on properties as needed
- Assist with carpooling employees, running errands in company vehicles as requested
- Support estate security protocol and tasks
- Assist with any other task that may be required to maintain the estate; minor janitorial tasks, painting, plumbing, carpentry, and shopping
QUALIFICATIONS-SKILLS-TRAITS
- Two plus years’ experience in the trades or as a caretaker, groundskeeper, gardener, or related profession
- Knowledge of maintenance and general building and grounds caretaking
- Proficient in using manual and power garden tool
- Previous experience in animal care and handling a plus – minimally, must be comfortable handling two large dogs
- Ability to communicate effectively and follow instructions
- Willingness and ability to learn new skills
- Resourceful, hands-on, and goal-oriented attitude with attention to detail
- Professional demeanor and appearance
- Capable of lifting up to 50lbs and perform physical labor for several hours at a time in all kinds of weather
- Flexible: willing and able to work overtime, weekends, and holidays
- Willingness to assist in any aspects of the estate when called upon
- Utmost confidentiality and professional discretion
- Must have safe driving record, valid driver’s license, and undergo background check
- Nonsmoking and no pet allergies
Hourly pay rate dependent on experience.
Housing available for duration of position for those relocating from out of the area.
Job Types: Full-time, Temporary
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 45 per week
Schedule:

- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
