What are the responsibilities and job description for the Well Drilling Helper position at Stonehouse Drilling & Construction, LLC?
Stonehouse Drilling is a leader in water well drilling and pump systems, specializing in municipal, mining, industrial, and agricultural projects. Based in Northern Nevada, we provide essential water solutions to demanding industries, and we’re looking for motivated individuals to join our team as Drill Helpers.
What Makes This Role Unique?
This is not your typical 9-to-5 job. As a Drill Helper, you’ll work long shifts (12 hours), often in extreme weather conditions. You’ll be outdoors in the elements every day, contributing to projects that span multiple weeks at a time, often in remote locations. Travel is a significant part of the job, with all lodging and per-diem expenses covered while onsite.
The demanding nature of this role is matched by its rewards: consistent overtime opportunities mean you’ll earn $80,000 or more annually, significantly increasing your compensation over a traditional 40hr/week. This is a job for those interested in hard work with high reward.
What You’ll Do
- Support Drill Operations: Assist in setting up, maintaining, and operating drilling equipment. Proactively anticipate operational needs to keep projects running smoothly.
- Maintain Professional Worksites: Ensure all work areas are clean, safe, and organized. Show pride in your craftsmanship and attention to detail.
- Learn and Grow: Work closely with experienced Drillers, gaining valuable hands-on experience with the potential to become a licensed Driller yourself.
- Adapt and Contribute: Embrace the challenges of a fast-paced, autonomous work environment with minimal supervision. Take initiative and work collaboratively to meet demanding project deadlines.
What We’re Looking For
- Licenses: A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is required. A Class A CDL is highly preferred and will be compensated accordingly.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: Preference for candidates with experience in construction, mining, drilling, or operating heavy equipment.
- Stonehouse has a ZERO TOLERANCE drug policy, and all employees are subject to random testing.
Compensation and Benefits
- Pay: $22-$24/hour base pay, with substantial overtime opportunities, leading to annual earnings of $80,000 or more.
- Benefits: Comprehensive medical insurance (100% of the employee base plan covered), life and dental insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, PTO, vacation, and paid holidays.
- Expenses: Travel expenses, including lodging and per-diem, fully covered.
Work Location and Travel
- Location: Based in Northern Nevada, reporting to offices in Reno or Winnemucca.
- Travel: Nearly all work is out of town. Projects typically last around three weeks, during which there are no days off. Non-standard schedules, including night shifts, are common. Days off typically occur between projects.
