A Cafe FRONT OF HOUSE MANAGER (FOH Manager) at Stonemill matcha manages the day-to-day front of house operations of a restaurant, including staff allocation, customer service, and assisting operation management on controllable goals. While the FOH Manager oversees the operations in the front they are an integral part of the restaurant as a whole that works closely with other departments.
Reports to: GM
Your reports: FOH shift managers, hourly front of house staff.
Supporting supervisors: CEO
Hours: Your work schedule is based on needs of the operation and how organized the candidate can reach goals and work with staff. Your workload is based primarily on the ability to maintain and execute goals and expectations. Ideally, the candidate can be organized and have the ability to delegate and maintain day to day while communicating expectations and executing on the high level goals of the company. Hourly Position: Full Time, overtime not guaranteed.
Responsibilities:
Operation- Allocate front staff positions to ensure smooth day-to-day business. Predict hourly sales and organize efficient shifts accordingly.
Scheduling- Assist in creation of a fixed shift and a system that allows for replacement in the event of vacancy.
Staffing and team building- Assist in interviewing, staffing, and onboarding the appropriate number of staff to operate and create a strong team. If necessary, promote and recruit. Always look for ways to motivate and reward staff. Provide administrative support for onboarding and offboarding procedures. Guide and train staff through paperwork, registration, service operation, and menu. Regular check-ins to understand level of knowledge and hold the team to account on training knowledge.
Customer Service- Strive to improve the overall service level of the FOH team. Respond with guest recovery efforts, and when special attention and care is needed bring the topics up to upper management. On the day refunds, discounts, and gifts are communicated and budgeted.
FOH inventory management- ordering necessary tools, supplies, and smallwares.
Hygiene management - Thorough cleanliness at FOH stations, drink stations, and restrooms. Strive to improve and maintain the cleanliness of the entire front.
Vender support- Ordering and receiving, quality and quantity checks.
Troubleshooting- Troubleshooting water clogs, power outages, grease traps, and other equipment failures, etc.
Register & POS management- Closing the cash register after business hours. Be able to update and respond to menu changes and 3rd party services such as doordash, uber eats, etc.
Daily report- Daily business reports, thorough enough to understand the on-site situations.
Other- Assist other departments when needed.
Ideal candidate:
- Has 5 years of food and beverage experience. Front of House experience is a must.
- Has 1-3 years of experience in a supervisory role
- Has experience working in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
- Has a well-groomed and inviting appearance As described in Stonemill Matcha / Taishoken Handbook
- Has experience in working with multicultural and multilingual staff - We have a mix of Japanese, Spanish, and English speaking staff. Huge plus if the candidate can speak Japanese but not necessary. Main Language requirement is fluency in English.
Salary Range: Hourly 29-$35/hr - may include cash bonuses, commission, other rewards
