The Bridge Foreman is responsible for overseeing the construction crews and maintenance of bridges and other related structures within heavy highway construction projects in Virginia for VDOT. They will coordinate and supervise all activities related to bridge construction, ensuring compliance with project plans, specifications, safety regulations, and quality standards. The Bridge Foreman will collaborate closely with DOT Inspectors, Project Managers, Subcontractors, and crews to ensure the successful completion of bridge projects.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Plan and coordinate bridge construction activities, including resource allocation, and equipment procurement, to meet project deadlines.
2. Oversee the construction and installation of formwork, rebar, and concrete structures for bridges, retaining walls, culverts, and other related structures.
3. Review project plans, specifications, and drawings to ensure compliance with design requirements and industry standards.
4. Monitor and maintain a safe work environment, adhering to all safety regulations and promoting a culture of safety among the construction team.
5. Conduct regular safety inspection, identify issues, and implement corrective measures as needed.
6. Coordinate with project managers and engineers to resolve technical challenges and ensure the timely resolution of construction-related issues.
7. Manage and supervise subcontractors, ensuring their adherence to project specifications, safety protocols, and quality standards.
8. Provide guidance and training to construction crews on proper construction techniques, safety procedures, and quality control measures.
Qualifications: Minimum of three (3) years of successful foreman experience on projects of similar size and scope. OSHA 30 hour construction safety training, minimum requirement Proven experience as a Bridge foreman or similar role in heavy highway construction, specifically with bridge construction projects. In-depth knowledge of bridge construction techniques, materials, and industry standards. With the ability to read and interpret project plans, specifications, and blueprints accurately. Strong leadership skills as well as problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with the capacity to identify and address construction-related issues promptly. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with various stakeholders and manage subcontractors. Solid understanding of safety regulations and the ability to enforce safety protocols to ensure a safe work environment.
