Position Purpose:
The Junior Trader (Cotton) will be responsible for providing support as a first step to the trading team. In addition, you will have to learn all the aspects of cotton specifications and trading so that at a later stage you will be able to take part as a second in either buying or selling markets. This position requires patience and a strong team spirit, as well as the ability to listen and understand the different aspects of the business.
Responsibilities
Primary duties will include:
- Learning physical cotton specifications / values,
- Understanding and maintenance of accurate costings,
- Assist and learn in executing trades in strict adherence with compliance and risk management guidelines,
- Monitor market movements and analysis to identify trading opportunities,
- Support senior traders in developing and implementing trading strategies / new channels,
- Maintain accurate records of trades, both physical and derivatives,
- Collaborate with the trading team as well as back office to enhance trading practices and service to customers,
- Participate in weekly trading calls and contribute insights based on analysis,
- Negotiation and relationship with local suppliers,
- Follow up of contracted deliveries and take-up results
Qualifications
To land this role you will need:
- University degree with Economic and Trading background preferably
- Fluent English, any other languages is a plus
- Good knowledge of trading platforms, ideally Fintrade
- Excellent attention to detail
- Good customer service skills and hands-on experience with data management tools and office software programs
- Able to work and perform within a fast- growing business keeping motivation and contributing to the business expansion and success
- Travel required
