Comstock Park is seeking candidates who display a strong desire and ability to make an impact on students and the greater community both within and outside of the classroom.
The person hired for this position will be working at Stoney Creek Elementary and Pine Island Elementary schools.
Temporary for remainder of 2024-2025 School Year - This position ends on 6/4/2025.
SUMMARY: The Reading/Math Interventionist will work in a building or buildings to deliver remedial instruction to identified Title I/at-risk students, coordinate the district adopted curriculum, lend professional support to teachers, plan for and in-service teachers, test students, model reading strategies, and perform any duties necessary to ensure the delivery of best-practice in remedial instruction within Title I guidelines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Deliver appropriate diagnostic instruction to identify Title I/at-risk students
- Coordinate the district adopted curriculum into the Title I program and services in conjunction with the Title I Team.
- Lend professional support to teachers by suggesting strategies, materials, etc. which would be appropriate for students.
- Lend professional support to teachers by taking flexible groups of students for short-term instruction.
- Plan and carryout district and building in-services for teachers and parentsx.
- Assess all students three times per year for placement, instruction and progress monitoring.
- Attend child student meetings for potential and existing students.
- Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelors of Arts Degree, Masters preferred.
Strong educational emphasis in Math and ELA.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Valid Michigan Elementary State Certification - Will consider a Sub Permit
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program; ability to plan and implement lessons based on district and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents; skill in oral and written communication. Ability to operate a personal computer and related software.
THIS IS A GRANT FUNDED POSITION.
The final candidate for this position will be required (at their cost) to furnish the district with a current Michigan State Police and FBI criminal records LiveScan check prior to our recommendation to hire.
