ATHLETIC DIRECTOR
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Sports Administration or Education
- Prior experience in Sports Administration desirable
- Working knowledge of MHSAA rules and regulations
- A minimum of five years coaching experience in public schools.
- Strong skill set in human relations, communications, problem solving and organization.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
SALARY: $70,000 to $80,000 plus comprehensive benefit package

SELECTION PROCESS:
Selection of an individual to fill this vacancy is determined by the appropriate administrators based upon experience, qualifications, and professional attributes.
TITLE: ATHLETIC DIRECTOR
REPORTS TO: High School Principal and Deputy Superintendent of Schools
SUPERVISES: Head Coaches, Assistant Coaches, Athletic Trainer, Athletic Secretary, Game Day Workers
JOB GOAL: Coordinate building facilities and athletic functions
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Schedules officials for all home contests.
- Orders equipment, uniforms, game and practice balls as needed each school year
- Assists the Principal in selecting candidates for appointments to coaching positions
- Provides supervision to coaches and evaluates head coaches
- Assists District personnel in developing and maintaining indoor and outdoor facilities that are safe for competition
- Scheduling of all athletic facility usage through ML Scheduling software
- Ensures all pay to participate fees are paid
- Enforces the Athletic Code of Conduct for all student athletes
- Works with athletic secretary to schedule transportation for all athletic programs
- Develops and maintains a fiscally responsible athletic budget each year
- Develops competitive schedules that are educationally and physically sound for the athletes
- Cooperates with the Booster Club and community in regards to the athletic program
- Represents the school at local conference and county/state athletic meetings
- Supervises all home athletic contests, or delegates a responsible person
- Makes sure everything is in place for start of contest
- Shows visiting teams and officials to their quarters and provides any information or courtesy which makes their stay more pleasant
- Closes gym and fields at the conclusion of athletic contest after players and spectators leave
- Schedules game day workers to sell digital tickets through GoFan for home athletic events
- Serves as event manager when hosting OAA and MHSAA post season tournaments
- Ensures that all student athletes are eligible per MHSAA rules and RCS academic standards
- Ensures that athletic programs are in compliance with district policies and procedures.
- Assists in hiring and supervising all event officials and personnel for each athletic event
- Conducts pre-season coach meetings before the start of each season
- Coordinates and distributes year end awards and certificates for each team
- At the end of the season, is responsible for the closure of that season, completion of the year-end summary, inventory, collection of keys, etc.
- Serves as a visible and positive public relations advocate for the District
- Maintains school athletic webpage and updates social media accounts
- Attends district sponsored Athletic Directors’ meetings
- Attends OAA league and conference meetings
- Ensures that all coaches are CPR certified, as required by Michigan law.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the principal
