JOB DESCRIPTION
Supervisor: Quality Control Manager
Position Summary: Installs and supervises testing devices and procedures for products including raw
materials, in-process and finished goods to ensure conformance to specifications
and quality standards. Supervises Quality Control Technicians. Works with R&D
and Product Managers to develop and evaluate new or modified products.
Investigates discrepancies and suggests solutions.
Specific Requirements:
1. Responsible for coordinating the testing and evaluation of raw materials, in-process materials, finished products, and packaging materials, and ensuring that these materials meet current specifications prior to use or shipment. Has authority to place material on hold and to designate disposition of rejected material.
2. Responsible for training new technicians and providing continuing training to all technicians to ensure acceptable levels of competence. Performs periodic review of QC technicians.
3. Responsible for scheduling of technicians to ensure adequate lab coverage and achievement of desired departmental productivity.
4. Assists the QC Manager with coordinating testing of experimental products and product reformulations for R&D and product managers.
5. Maintains QC laboratory test equipment, coordinates calibration of lab equipment and production scales in accordance with the calibration schedule, and recommends new QC testing equipment as necessary.
6. Coordinates with the QC Manager and manufacturing to support the rework and/or disposal of returned, obsolete, or rejected materials.
7. Informs appropriate personnel of any observed quality issues or nonconformities. Assists in the investigation and resolution of quality issues.
8. Assists in hazardous waste handling when needed.
Background Requirements:
1. Minimum of three years experience testing and evaluation of Stonhard products.
2. Thorough knowledge of Stonhard products, Ips, and raw materials.
3. College degree in the sciences or engineering preferable.
