What are the responsibilities and job description for the Prep Cook - Part Time - Evening Shift position at Stono Market & Tomato Shed Cafe?
We are looking for fast paced, organized and skilled Lead Prep Cook. The position hours are Wednesday from 4 to 7 and Thursday through Saturday 4 to close (usually around 10:00 or 10:30pm.) PLEASE DON'T APPLY IF YOU CAN'T WORK THE LISTED WORK HOURS. You will be preparing several of our famous dishes, take 'n' bake meals, deli items and assisting the Chef and Sous Chef. A great prep cook will be quick, diligent, and organized. You will have to be able to follow instructions, read recipes, and follow all health and safety rules. The ideal candidate will also be able to function in a fast-paced, busy environment as a part of a team. We are a small family business that values your time and efforts. We are closed on major holidays and believe in honoring those that work with us like our own family members.
Qualifications
- Experience in high volume commercial kitchen
- Self motivation
- Able to take direction and follow a recipe
- Has relevant skills related to role
- Able to submit 2 positive professional references
- Ability to work Tuesday-Saturday 3 to 10
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Basic understanding of various cooking methods, tools and equipment
- Familiar with commercial kitchen equipment and procedures
Responsibilities
- Assisting Chef in all aspects of food preparation
- Food preparation and execution as directed by Chef, Sous Chef and Line Cooks
- Maintaining a clean and organized work area
- Stocking supplies, putting away stock upon delivery, and assisting in ordering needed items
- Maintaining stock levels of specified food products
- Washing dishes
- Trash disposal
- Maintaining close communication with manager and chef to ensure positive kitchen function
- Having positive and professional communication with coworkers
- Other cleaning and organizing and cleaning on rotation basis and as needed
